Never heard of this until today. Has anyone used it? If so, what was your experience and opinion.

I have used it. I have good experiences with the two types I have used. One was extruded charcoal and the other was briquettes. The extruded charcoal was very good. The briquettes were good but not worth the extra cost over regular charcoal like Kingsford. What kind were you looking at?

Troy over on weberkettleclub often posts about coshell with very postive results. Seems more common on west coast. Here in NY i dont see it anywhere and the shipping costs are deal breakers for me.

I like the Coshell briquets for grilling but don't use them for smoking unless I cut them with an equal amount of regular hardwood charcoal.

The Lowe's stores around here carried Coshell for awhile and it was very competitively priced, but they stopped about a year ago. I went into one last spring and the salesman told me that they sold the last of it for about $2 or so a bag...that really hurt!
