Apple Tree Wood

I scored some nice wood from an apple tree.

I have a bunch of wood for smoking. I have it chopped up into nice chunks.

Do I have to take the bark off of it???

Just wondering.

Some say yes, some say no. I have a peach tree that I get wood from. If I have my knife in my pocket I whitle the bark off while I wait on my lit to get goin.

I never remove the bark. Apple is my most used smoke wood. Good stuff!

If I had apple wood in the bark, that's how it would go in the pit

You can leave it on unless it has mold or fungus on it.

The easier it is to remove the bark, the more likely I am to take it off. When I get big pieces, I like chopping it in a way that gives me the most I can get without bark. At the end of the day though, I'm not gonna spend much time removing bark and will just throw it in or not use it.
