Boosted T-bone!

So many of you have seen my version of the vortex in the mini-wsm section. I call it the mini-booster. I finally had a night where I could cook for myself. So I brought out the mini and the booster. Another new item this smoke, Henderson's Relish.

So here's the grub for the first test of the mini-booster. I marinated the $16 dollar (on sale) T-bone in the Henderson's Relish for several hours. Coated the steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder. Let it sit until the tater was close to being done. Put the corn on about 30 minutes prior to the steak going on.

Used my typical lighting method. Torch through a vent.

Big Steak that's a 12" plate!

Tater was on the grill for 45 minutes or so, not wrapped. I wrapped it in foil when the corn went on.

Thirty minutes later the half side of cow went on!

Had to bring out the big plate for plating!

The Verdict:

Having never used a vortex, I guess this did what it's supposed to do. In the center there was a concentrated source of heat that radiated out to the edges to give an indirect cooking area. The tater and corn did well. It's hard to tell if there was much difference for the steak because it was too big to take advantage of the indirect, direct surfaces.

Total cook time on the limited fuel was right at about 4 hours. plenty of time to do just about anything.

Now the star of the Show, Henderson's relish. This stuff is tasty and when I run out I will be ordering another bottle or three. Similar to Worcestershire but not. The steak was awesome!

ENJOY!!!!

Oh yeah lets not forget the dogs!

Trimmed just the way a 13 year old dog likes!

That's a good cook. The dog got the best of that steak!
Have you considered modifying the mini booster into an octagon?

Case - good looking meal. That steak is just about perfect. Nice of you to share with the pup too. The booster looks interesting did you make it yourself?

Regards,

John

Thank you!

Yes I have drawn up a hexagon and an octagon version. Don't know if I'll make them or not. If I had a metal break I'd more inclined too. For now I have to cut the steel with my jigsaw and a metal blade.

Thank you John. Yes I made the booster. I have a thread in the mini-wsm section on the build.

That Pyramid looks cool. Nice cook Case. Lucky pooch, that's my favourite part of the T.

Thank you! Yeah the bones have been my fab since I was a kid. I figure though that the old dog deserves a treat every now and then too!

Killer cook!

THank you!

Three or four of those bones would be a good start on some French Onion soup!

Even without the dogs the bones would never make it to the stock pot!
