Grill Press

Hi everyone. I'm up late tonight :). I'm wanting some opinions. I would like to get a nice grill press for my weber gas grill. My wife bought me one with a wooden handle. And as expected the handle fell apart quickly with the heat of the grill. I'm looking at a variety of presses:

First question is for the high heat of the grill would it be better to go with a cast iron press or an enameled press? I'm leaning towards the round shape just because they seem to be twice as heavy for about the same price. Of course if it has a wooden handle then that rules it out.

Have you got a cast iron skillet?
I have also used a double wide paving brick wrapped in three layers of aluminum foil.
I'm a cheap guy for "gadgets" a dedicated press would be a one trick pony for me and I don't have space for too much crap.

I have the Lodge LGPR3 Pre-Seasoned Round Cast-Iron Grill Press. Perfect size and weight for many cooks.

Going to try it on the BBQ grill hash browns next.

Well. You know it will take the heat, and you have one, if you want more weight, drop a brick(preheated) in it.
Like I say, I'm a cheapskate. I have started using my CI on the grill lately, it's just easy to handle (so to speak), it does not need to be babied.

BINGO! Single use products (other than a fire extinguisher) don't do much for me, I don't have space! That's kind of why I'm stalled over a "Vortex". Well, maybe I'm just cheap......yeah that's it, I'm cheap! But, I know it.

Tim,

I hacked a vortex clone for CAD $16.00 while the pork was cooking yesterday. Trial run this week. Stay tuned!

Hey thats my steak cooked with another gadget..Sous Vide..before i used the Lodge grill press to add some grill marks.;) Came out very tasty eh.

To each their own, grill press, cast iron pan, Vortex etc., whatever works for you.

I get little awards from the company i work for, such as getting called in on Holidays, last minute long hour installations, trouble shooting and working safe etc.
Last year i racked up over $500.00 in awards, so i bought a lot of Amazon.com bbq related stuff using this site that i would enjoy for years.

Vortex Ribs and chicken last Sunday..
