Jalapeno Jerky

I stopped in at a smokehouse today and grabbed some Jalapeno jerky----- great big thick pieces. I was surprised at how much green pepper flavor came through, there was also a paste residue on it.....got me wanting to duplicate it.... Not so sure how just yet, if anyone has any good ideas I'm open to suggestion.

I picked up some dried jalapenos, I'm thinking I'll use that & some fresh in the marinade, then maybe strain the marinade, smash the peppers, and use it for a rub.
