Just chicken, didn't feel like going to the store, tearing up the carpet getting ready to put in laminate.

Fire the lil guy up for an indirect reverse sear

It's a little light in the butt. When you scrape the grill, you have to put your foot on it or it will move with your brush strokes. It cooks great, It's a sear monster, the grate is barely above the coals. I'm looking forward to using this lid on my big kettles :)

Is the lid actually shallower than the standard (OTS/OTG) 22" lid? From the pictures, it looks like it might be, but could just be an optical illusion because the lower bowl is squatter.

I thought it might be, but I just measured the depth and it's 7" just like my two kettles. The difference is between the grates; this one has a 4" gap, my kettles have a 5" gap

I do the same kind of thing but, I have a pair of heavy old fashioned steel platters (steak house style) and cradle it under the handle. Same effect, I only started doing that last fall, don't know why the idea escaped me for so long! It's very handy!
