Which would you use for your Kettle Pizza

I'm leaning towards my 18" WSM, since in my mind the fit is better than the 22" kettle

Personally, I would go with a kettle lid, but you are limited to your bullet over the 22" kettle.

While I don't have any experience with the Kettle Pizza setup, I do cook pizzas on a Large BGE and use the plate setter legs down and set the stone on the ceramic feet to raise it higher in the dome.

I've been on the fence over getting (or making my own) kettle pizza and a lot of mods and "accessories" for the KP suggest that a lower ceiling is the way to go.

It appears that you have a KettlePizza in the 18.5 flavor. It's too small for the 22.5. You might be able to get an "extension" from Kettle Pizza.
It would probably work better on the 18.5 WSM if you used a lid from an 18.5 kettle or even a steel plate.
I would venture to guess that you will end up with soggy pizza if you use the lid from your WSM.

ChuckO just has the KP sized down to fit the 18". This KP is adjustable to fit the 18 and 22.

So I'm thinking of doing a hybrid, LOL

If u use the wsm, I suggest you take the drum section off so that your fire is closer to the pizza. The wsm also has too much head room, that's where a lot of the heat is to cook the top of the pizza. You could always just put your grate and stone at the top of the KP. The only thing with that is you would need to take the lid off to put the piano in and take to take it off. Not to mention it's more difficult to monitor your cook. Doing it this way puts you pie in the heat zone. This is only what I think based on experience without using the KP.

That's what has me so bummed, that picture (second in this thread) is at the 22" and to me, it seems like an inch too small? I'm really thinking about going with the hybrid :)

Are you sure the 2nd pic is at the 22" holes. I can see the holes in the second pic. You have it in the 18" holes. Here's what it should look like at the 22". I just went out and put mine together at the 22" setting.

So I checked it. The largest setting is 20" and the smaller setting is 17&3/4"

I'm not sure why Kettle Pizza thinks 20" is good, in my mind, it should be 21&3/4"

go figure...

Wanna trade? :)

Yours fits good on your kettle, mine does not

I would go like your first picture but raise the fire to the middle position... Remove the water pan and set the fire grate & ring where the water pan goes.....

Mine measures about 21.5. You should call KP. Here's mine set up at for the 22.

Good photo / info Nate. I don't think they drilled my holes right, but hind site would have it, I'm perfectly happy with it set at 18"

I did my cook on my WSM using my 22" kettle lid and I had really good results. I'm pretty set on doing my pizzas as such
