    Smoke Shack

I have a BBQ Guru Temperature Controller and only need access to one of the vents. The other two vents are closed.

Del, The shack came out great. Nice job. The food looks delicious too! Greg

    Smoke Shack

Del, The only reason I used flashing on the base was due to the fact that a wooden structure and charcoal are not a good mix. I was concerned about hot coals landing on the base and setting the whole thing on fire. It wouldn't take long for all that hard work to go up in flames. You can take...

I'd go with this style. It looks awesome! Oh wait ... This is the one I built. Seriously ... This works very well for me.

    Annual Target clearance

I picked up a boxed Jumbo Joe this weekend for $17.98. It's now sitting in the basement with the one I bought last year at a similar price.

    Smoke Shack

No offense taken Tim. I actaully appreciate someone with your background looking at it in such detail. As I stated in the plans ... "I am an Electrical Engineer by trade. I am neither a Mechanical Engineer nor a Carpenter." To be honest, I was happy to see someone actually reproduced my...

    Smoke Shack

I agree. Based on pure measurements the spreaders should be 2' 3". 2' 6" minus 1 1/2" per side (left and right). The plans are "for the most" part "as built". I can see where there could be some slight variation. Nice catch Tim!

    Smoke Shack

The roof is what holds the whole thing together. The opposing latches create structural stability. It's really all about torque. Think of it this way. Pull on one side (left or right) of the enclosure(basically what's happening when you open the door). In your configuration, if there is any...

    Smoke Shack

Matt, I looked at the roof in more detail today. The plans seem to match the "as built". Could you send me one dimension. I'm interested in your roof "joists". The 2x4s from the roof and left and right walls should match up when "the shack" is put together. You said you had to move...

    Smoke Shack

Matt, Thanks for the reply. I didn't use pressure treated floor boards. I used pressure treated 4x4s and those would be the only boards that would make ground contact. I think getting the flashing on the floor boards was one of the hardest parts since flashing is not very bendable, so a made...

    Smoke Shack

It has been said that imitation is the highest form of flattery ... and needless to say I'm flattered. To be honest, I never thought anyone would ever build another one. It looks awesome Matt! I love the stenciling and the window is a nice addition too. I have a several questions: 1) What...

WSM Portable "Smoke Shack" (Wind/Rain Screen)

I sent you the plans via e-mail. I don't see any reason you couldn't use T1-11 siding. The tongue and groove pine I used was 3/4" thick, so if you use a different thickness you'll have to adjust your dimensions slightly.
