LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Well, I have to get rid of my WSM. My stupid HOA has outlawed charcoal grills/smokers. You melt hole through the stucco flooring of your balcony, and they never forgive you. (To be fair, that was pretty stupid of me. Also they probably don't even know I did that.) I'm sure I'll be able to...

What are you doing to disconnect from the wireless? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm at a bit of a loss here.

Have you tried rebooting windows? Are we sure that the ethernet cable is good?

Just to make sure, you're plugging your new WRT54GL into your computer, yes? Not the home router. It's just weird that both addresses have that 0 in them.

But he was connected to wireless. I have seen some drivers report as a LAN connection instead of a wireless adapter. </div></BLOCKQUOTE> Yeah... I realize that now.

What's the model number of your linksys, and have you done a factory reset?

Also, to make triple sure on this one (I know I keep checking this) you're plugged into one of the LAN ports, right?

Weird. Don't mean to be insulting with my questions, it's just... this should be working.

Also, not sure why, but your ipconfig says that your wireless is still on. I haven't seen a single ipconfig where the wireless was off.

Well, as long as you've disconnected from the network on your computer, it shouldn't matter if there's a range extender.

Disconnect the wireless, make sure you're plugged into the WRT, run ipconfig and show us that.

Ummmm.... Hmmm... weird. Disconnect wifi, plug into WRT. Make sure it's one of the LAN ports and NOT the WAN. Run the following commands: ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig Then see if you can connect on 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Here are the steps I took. I downloaded the custom firmware from github. I disconnected my laptop from wireless. I plugged my laptop directly in to one of the LAN ports on the WRT. I went to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 (Can't remember which, one should work.) I logged into the router using...

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

You don't need to be connected to the Internet for this process as long as you downloaded the .bin ahead of time. 192.168.1.1 is a local address. When you plug into the WRT you are connecting to a local network consisting of your computer and the WRT. You don't need wireless at all at this...

I'm one step too slow on any troubleshooting steps here.

My blower came from digikey today. It's about half the size of what I thought it would be. Seriously, this thing is tiny.

LinkMeter v2 Homebrew BBQ Controller - Part 2

Plug directly into your computer, don't go through your home router. Then 192.168.1.1 should work. Flash your router. It'll reboot. Then you can connect through 192.168.200.1. Set up WiFi. Once you get WiFi set up, your home router will assign the WRT its own IP address on your network...
