    Casters for a 14.5" WSM?

Has anyone put casters on their 14.5" WSM and if so, are they useful? My brother-in-law just happened to have 3 really nice casters and I replaced the ones on my 18.5". Not wanting anything to go to waste, I'm thinking about using my old ones on my 14.5". Yes, the 14.5" is small and light...

Got my 14.5" for $70 and here are my mods.....

First thing was to drop the heat shield to the outside. I used these from Ace Hardware Drilled a 3/16" hole 3/8" from edge. (Went 120 degrees for the other two). I went 1 1/2" from bottom section. I removed the legs to drill 3/16" holes. I installed all three hooks and evened them out. I...

    PartyQ issue and questions....

Okay, I have a PartyQ and initially had an issue with the thermocouple reading different from my Ivation wireless. This issue has been resolved (evidently, it takes almost 2 hours for the two to read within 5 degrees of each other, but starts out 20-25 degree difference). Okay, here is my "new"...

Can someone explain this to me please?

My first use of a PartyQ while smoking a pork butt. (It came out very good, btw). Anyway, as shown below is my "early" temperature readings. The probes were side by side about 1/2 in. from touching. As I continued the cook, the PartyQ was about 20 degrees "hotter" than the Ivation. About...

    PartyQ ATC for 18.5" WSM?

I've been reading up on this and for my personal use, I like the battery operation. Would definitely use rechargeable batteries. While I do like tinkering with my set up, using the PartyQ would allow me to replace my grill probe with a second meat probe on my Ivation wireless. Just can't...

Lid hinge placement on a 18.5" WSM

For those of you who have already installed a lid hinge on a 18.5" WSM, would you recommend that it go in the back or on the side? Since the 18.5" only has the top handle, I was wondering if the leverage to open "and" close the lid due to handle orientation would be easier with either...

Just joined: New 18.5" WSM owner

Well, got my 18.5" WSM :wsm: the last week of June. So far have smoked pork ribs and then a combination of brisket, beef ribs and pork ribs this 4th of July weekend (that was fun, lol). Everyone loved them and it was so much easier than using my charcoal grill and offsetting. Got an...
