Heater Meter (R Pi) loses wireless config on every reboot

For now this seems to have solved many of my problems too. Perhaps this should be a sticky post or make one noting this issue? A huge thanks for all that have helped me out with their knowledge and input!

A huge thanks for all that have helped me out with their knowledge and input... Ok......for now I cautiously say I found the resolution to the problem after what seems to be an endless search. I found a thread entitled "Heater Meter (R Pi) loses wireless config on every reboot" at...

Cannot connect to wireless local area network (WLAN)

Still can't get connected to my wifi. I am wondering if this has anything to do with it. What do I need to do with e2fsck?? root@OpenWrt:/etc/config# dmesg | grep mmc [ 0.000000] Kernel command line: dma.dmachans=0x7f35 bcm2708_fb.fbwidth=656 bcm2708_fb.fbheight=416 bcm2708.boardrev=0xe...

PID settings for Chargriller Akorn with fan only

What is the method by which you start your smoker? Did you perhaps start with too few coals with your minion method? I have a UDS and have the luxury of "pre-heating" by opening up my air intakes at the bottom first while I get the racks, etc, sorted out so I haven't ever run into that problem...

PID settings for Chargriller Akorn with fan only

I asked a similar question not long ago....I did a test run yesterday with my new HM/LM setup even though I haven't yet been able to connect it to my home WIFI. I used the stock PID settings on my UDS with 4-3/4" holes in the lid and a 3/4 ball valve intake wide open with a 20CFM fan set at max...

config.txt file entries get commented out afer each restart

Yea...I am done trying different SD cards. I have tried 6 different SD cards. I have tried Micro SD with adapters as well as the larger old school SD card. As far as brands go I have tried SanDisk and Lexar. As far as class of card I have done class 6 and class 10. For sizes I have done 8GB, 16...

config.txt file entries get commented out afer each restart

Well for some reason after a restart my wifi settings aren't retained in what I assume is the /etc/config/wireless file? I have never been able to use the HM/LM GUI to change from AP mode to WIFI client mode - it has never worked. Is there a system config file I can edit or add that will default...

config.txt file entries get commented out afer each restart

I am noticing that my HM config.txt gets completely commented restart. As we know this is where the WIFI settings are pulled from. I assume that the /boot/config.txt file has to be the file used for setting up the WIFI each time. Anything I can do to prevent this? Also, is there a way to reboot...

Cannot connect to wireless local area network (WLAN)

I just tried changing my SSID on my router from "Permanent Vacation" to "skynet" also. No luck connecting to my wifi. I have tried 4 different SD cards in combination with 2 USB wifi adapters. I am about to call it quits and see if anyone will trade up with me. I have spent 20+ hours trying to...

Cannot connect to wireless local area network (WLAN)

Nothing non-standard with my SSID. It's 2 words each with a single capital letter and a space in between...."Permanent Vacation". WPA2 for the encryption method. The crazy thing is that I actually had it connected to my network until I shut down and swapped adapters. I don't know what gives...

Cannot connect to wireless local area network (WLAN)

Many strange things have happened. I have now spent nearly 20 hours trying to get this setup to work as intended. I tried the "no restore" re-image. When I used that image I couldn't even get HM to act as an Access Point. In other words, I couldn't even connect to it with 192.168.201.1. From...

Cannot connect to wireless local area network (WLAN)

Wireless adapter specs I have tried 2 different wireless USB adapters and am getting the same results. So I tend to think it's not the actual adapters. Here are the names and models of both adapters that I have tried: Trendnet TEW-648UMB Wireless N 150MbPS...

Cannot connect to wireless local area network (WLAN)

I am following the instructions on the wiki. I am definitely editing the wifi. I have retried about 10x's now. When I press apply and save I get the error: The connection to the server has timed out. Here are the steps I am taking: Network>Wifi>Scan>Choose My Home WLAN SSID and Join...

I can't seem to connect to my local wireless area network. I have tried resetting the settings per the instructions on the wiki page located at (https://github.com/CapnBry/HeaterMeter/wiki/HeaterMeter-4.x-Software). I tried both the config.txt method as well as the gui method. I have tried...

Thanks for the words of wisdom gentlemen. All have made great points and sounds like all know what they are talking about as I have noticed some of the things mentioned about briquettes my self.
