Any WSM and Fireboard 2 owners around?

Willie, I have a Rec Tec 680 and I would agree the smoke flavor is not very strong but I knew that going in. I now use my WSM 22 to smoke my meats for the first 4-6 hours and then after I wrap them, I use the Rec Tec to finish the cook at whatever temperature for the balance of time. It works...

Any WSM and Fireboard 2 owners around?

Does the smaller Pit Viper shown here (10 cfm) do a good job or should I get a Pit Bull (25 cfm). I would probably prefer the 10 cfm so I have less ash blowing around if it performs well. I am getting the Fireboard 2 Drive. I like how it varies the speed of the fan versus turning it off and...

Where did you get the hole plugs for your vent holes? They look good.

Can you install the top gasket after the hinge kit?

Joel, I did the gasket before I did the hinge for that very reason. I currently have some play in the hinge with the gasket in place. I do not think you will have any problems. Go ahead and try it the worst thing you would have to do is maybe push on the lid a little bit when you close it to...

Massive WSM 22" Cleanup - HELP!

Still working a little bit on the WSM. I just finished restoring a Rec Tec 680 pellet grill and am now working on a Weber Red Head 1000 for my daughter. It has been slow due to the weather here in Indiana. It seems to rain almost every day...hey if I wanted that I would move to Seattle. LOL...

Massive WSM 22" Cleanup - HELP!

Yep, I am that poor soul! I was out Sunday power washing another grill I am refurbishing (Red Genesis 1000) and I could not keep from pulling the WSM 22.5 out and seeing what kind of results a quick power wash would give. It helped.....ok not much but I did knock off some stuff. I ended up...

Massive WSM 22" Cleanup - HELP!

I just bought a 22" WSM off Facebook for $75, I am excited about that. My problem is this unit was used at a restaurant and never was cleaned up. There are places that have smoke creosote buildup that is 1/2" thick. When I first saw a picture of the smoker, I thought someone had painted the...

Rib Hanger on 18” vs 22” WSM

I have Gateway hanger on my 18" WSM. I have used it twice and both times I just cut the ribs in half and used more hangers and they turned out great. I had to buy extra hangers due to the number of ribs I cooked all at once.

Lets Have A Discussion About Pellet Grills

I have been saving towards getting a Rec Tec grill. I look at it as adding to my grills (Summit, Kettle, WSM 18"). I love my grills to much and I like the flexibility that each has to offer so I do not plan on letting go of anything. Yes, I probably should get counseling! There are times...

Lets Have A Discussion About Pellet Grills

From what I have read, you are looking at about 1 lb of pellets per hour to maintain 225F on a 70's F day temperature.

    GrillGrates on Gassers

I have GG and I love them. I almost feel like I am cheating because they make it very easy to cook food. Keep in mind that stainless steel is not a very good conductor of heat. Aluminum is a excellent conductor of heat. A good example of this would be to look at stainless cookware, they have...
