How do you set alarms - sorry for the newb question but I can't seem to figure it out

Oh, that's cool. So you can change your temps to a setpoint once an alarm is triggered?

Gasket arrived today; perfect timing! It will never be this shiny again!

    Ordering my supplies!

I got the 3d printed case from Tom and purchased my parts from Bryan's site I didn't have to do the surface mount soldering when I ordered it with the thermocouple PCB. I got all the parts, everything went smooth other than some things I misunderstood. The instructions are very well written...

    Ordering my supplies!

Got my probes, weber smokey mountain w/replacement door and thermostats all calibrated (thanks again for the help). I'm still waiting on the gasket kit I ordered but that isn't going to stop me from getting everything dirty this weekend. I wanted to express my gratitude again and show how I...

    +/- ~2° on Thermocouple Normal?

It is right on the money in boiling water w/o the offset. Should have searched the documentation, my ignorance in thermometers didn't realize that the regular probes and a thermocouple would need to be calibrated differently. Really appreciate you guys taking the time to help out, especially...

    Oh, oops. Thank you

    +/- ~2° on Thermocouple Normal?

Yeah, in hindsight I should have checked that before posting. Thank you, it hasn't even gotten dirty yet! The aftermarket door and my probes just got here today so it's going to be a long smoking weekend! I'm really excited.

    +/- ~2° on Thermocouple Normal?

ok, it seems accurate at 5mV/C with -5 offset. I took the terminals off and plugged the wires into the HM and it looks like that might have gotten rid of the erratic readings...

    +/- ~2° on Thermocouple Normal?

The best I can get the thermocouple I purchased to behave is bouncing around between +/- 2º of reality every second, sometimes it deviates 3º but it also lands on the right temp or within 1º. I've messed with changing the ofsets and mV/C but the jumpy behavior seems to follow. I seem to recall...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

I ended up going to Home Depot and Lowes pricing all of the parts I would need. They didn't have any valved manifolds and the whole setup was going to cost ~$100 in parts so I ended up coming home with a WSM 18.5" and spent $3 on the parts to hook it up. I may still end up doing just the...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

I was thinking if I come out of the grill and looped the copper pipes in tight 3" loops a couple times each and connected the tubing then the heat would be dissipated enough. Would make mounting really easy with flexible lines. You are right again, it's probably worth giving it a shot. If it...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

This aquarium gang valve could save a lot of money...what do you think? The diameter is pretty small...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

Thanks Bob, great points. That vortex looks pretty useful. I already ordered two of the gasket kits that are advertised for the WSM so I can seal my kettle up in addition to the WSM. I think 3/8 would be too large, if I make the 3/4" hole any bigger it will either interfere with the grate...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

Ok, I went to the part store last night and just looked at things while brainstorming. This is what I have come up with so far: The existing one-touch hole is 3/4" so I would be able to do this without drilling holes if I used 1/4" copper but I don't think 1/4" is going to be large enough...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

Josh is fine. Very good point. I think I will get the 18.5" WSM. I think I would like to have the option to hang stuff so the WSM makes a lot of sense. I'm going to go ahead and order a gasket kit and aftermarket door for the WSM after reading up on them for the past couple hours. Between...

Fan mounting location on Weber One Touch Kettle

I know this thread is a little old but everything here is directly related to what I am trying to accomplish. I always use the snake method to smoke in my 22" Weber Kettle Performer and I have been trying to figure out how to attache airflow this morning. The dog bowl idea is pretty much out...

New build, blower running full speed.

Are you changing the 'startup max' value to test? When I was testing it didn't seem to matter what min% max% were but the startup max% allows me to fluxuate fan speed.

Has anyone mounted a HeaterMeter to an offset smoker?

I don't think you would have a problem with copper, melting point is over 1000C if I recall correctly.

    Ordering my supplies!

Alright, ordering now along with a thermocouple. I had mavericks in 'save for later' mostly because the Thermoworks aren't prime eligible, I'll just keep my fingers crossed for an earlier than 24th delivery date.
