Scratch and Rust Inside Spirit Firebox

Hello, When removing the flavorizing bars at some point, I scratched the inside of the firebox. The scratch is about an inch long, and has developed rust. What's the best way to deal with this? Thank you, John

Spirit 2-Burner Hot Spot in the Back

Thanks for the replies. This is not a new problem. It was like this from day one. I love the grill. It would just be good to know whether there is a way to fix this.

Spirit 2-Burner Hot Spot in the Back

So all the way in the back against the back wall it isn't hotter at all? How can that be given that there is a horizontal flame back there? It is a bit windy here typically, but where the wind is coming from would not make the back hotter. It would make the front hotter perhaps... Could there...

Spirit 2-Burner Hot Spot in the Back

My Spirit 2-burner is hottest in the back and gets progressively cooler towards the front. It is hottest where the bar connects the two burners, against the back wall. I constantly need to shift things around. Is this a known issue? Any suggestions? Thank you.

Is the Pulled Pork Ruined? Can I salvage it?

The IT did fall below 140. I put it back in the oven at 225F an hour ago. IT is currently 100F. I am not sure whether to keep it at 225F or increase to 325F as Charles suggested above. I am concerned about it drying out. Bill, what's the concern with falling below 140F?

Is the Pulled Pork Ruined? Can I salvage it?

Tried to make pulled pork in the oven. I didn't know that my oven had a 12-hour automatic shut-off setting by default. I had 7lbs pork butt in the oven over night. When I woke up, the oven had been off for nearly 3 hours. The meat has cooled down by now. I don't know if it ever reached the...

    How to Deal with Rust

No worries. I actually love cast iron and am accustomed to dealing with rust. I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to do anything special in this case.

    How to Deal with Rust

It's my first Weber, and my first cast iron grates, so it was just a question. I have a lot of cast iron cookware and know how it behaves.

    How to Deal with Rust

Should I spray all over the grates or just the rusty spots? Do I need to remove the rust from the grates somehow first?

    How to Deal with Rust

Thanks for the info. Here are some photos. What should I oil it with? At this point, I just let the grill run on high for about 15-20 minutes to burn off some of the treatment.

    How to Deal with Rust

I purchased a Spirit E-210 on Craiglist. It was a year old but had never been used. It still had the stickers on. It was kept outside, with a cover on. Everything looks good. There are a few rusty spots where the grates meet the body and on the bottom of the grates, in the same spots. I...
