I was inspired by the lights

I saw the light Mike Hawkins made in his garage. I was then inspired, and a guy at work suggested that I make lights over Mesa Azul using Smokey Joe lids for the covers. So I started to think how I could do it. So here is my project. Mesa Azul is fully lighted and ready for nighttime...

SS Performer small propane tank question

What do you do to fill this tank? If you can't get it filled what are you guys doing? Is there a fitting I can retro fit to use the current propane tanks like on the new performer? What is the SS Performer community doing? Brian

    Some Fajitas

I was gonna post this the other day, I don't often post my pictures over here, I never think my stuff looks as good as most of the stuff you guys cook and show here. Then I finally got the courage and then that guy posted those Luau pictures and made my dinner look as though I should have gone...

Just picked up a stainless performer for $25

I got a stainless performer yesterday for $25. It might need a little work. I'll try to get a picture, if anyone might be interested in seeing what they missed out on in Chicago.. Brian

    Before and after

Here are some before and after pictures of the handles off an old baby blue. The grill is not mine. I needed an old set of two rivet handles for a grill I am fixing up. So I needed it for reference. Once I got the old dimentions we were able to reverse engineer the handle. From there we...

Will be driving to Weber kettle Mecca tonight

I'm going to my Dad's house in Huntley Illinois tonight. I have to drive by the Weber charcoal grill production facility there. It is a massive factory. The building is humongous. Not that it's a big deal, I know it's silly but I do always stare at the building as I drive by. It's the...

    Loving my slide aside

I picked up a slide aside this weekend and I installed it on my 26.75. Even though it's designed for a 18 or 22, it fits and seems to work perfectly. I love my 26 and the only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the hook on the lid. This solved my issues. Very happy! Brian

What are you guys using for the rivets on the handles

If I drill out the rivets on the old two rivet style wood handles what are you guys using to replace the rivets so it has a similar vintage look? I have found a few things but not thrilled with any of them? Brian

    Surprised by a ranch kettle

I saw a ranch kettle today up close and I was really surprised by how huge it is. I can't believe it is so big in person. I have seen them in pictures, but until you see it close up you can't really appreciate how big it is. I'm not sure I could handle that thing. I was a little intimidated...

Found a Weber CI griddle on CL

I found this on CL yesterday for $15. I figured it was worth it for $15 dollars. Now the question is what do I do with it? What can I cook any ideas? I was also thinking do you think this will smother the fire quickly? Oh and how do I take care of this thing, I'm worried it will rust, what did...

What kind of wood are the wooden handles made of?

Does anyone know what kind of wood Weber uses for the handles. Brian

Finished with my Redhead rehab project

Got this one off of CL for $30. It was in pretty good shape with the exception of some chipping in the lower bowl, a few chips in the lid, and some pretty pitted vents on the bottom. The wheels showed the usual wear. The ash pan was distorted but not too bad. I started by pulling off the...

What year did Weber switch to the plastic wheels?

The 1973 catalog shows all the kettles with stamped steel wheels. I have a 1979 redhead that has plastic wheels. I believe the plastic wheels are original, although they could be replacements, but I don't think so. So assuming the 1979 is original do we have any idea what year they switched...

    Last weekends aquisitions

I got both of these last weekend. The black one is a 26.75 one touch from 1986, and the red is a 22.5 from 1979. Both are pretty good shape. The 26.75 was missing all the handles and the legs were a little loose. I got three new handles from Ace hardware, and I replaced the legs with new ones...

Advice on how to fix my bent leg

Here is the old Weber I got for free over the summer. I am cleaning it up and trying to fix some of the issues. The one leg is bent and I'm wondering what I can do to fix it and save it instead of replace it. It an old gray weber, its not black. it looks black until you put it next to a...

I guess if you really need to have one like this...

I do love those European colors but this is pretty steep for a SJ. But if you really need to have one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weber-...&hash=item1c1fcf4703 Brian

How do I fix my aging legs on an old BAR-B-Q KETTLE

I got an old weber with the thumbscrews and the tubes on the bottom of the kettle that hold the legs on are rusty and coming loose. The spot welds have weakened. Some are separated and some are attached but it is shaky. How do you fix this problem. Do you drill through the little tabs and...
