Can HM periodically post data to a URL?

My new dashboard is online and working. You can see the testing data here: http://www.andrewflusche.com/knights/smokers.html I was able to modify Steve's code, put two graphs on one page, customize it a bit, and be done! I may add a little message box at the top of the page that I can update...

Can HM periodically post data to a URL?

AWESOME! This is even better than I was hoping for. I can probably modify your HTML file to display our two graphs easily and monitor both smokers at once. Thank you!

Can HM periodically post data to a URL?

I am using two HeaterMeters to run two WSM's for a church group I'm in. We'd like to be able to access the HM graph / temps remotely so we can monitor the smokers at church while we're at home. :) I doubt we will be allowed to port forward on the church's wifi, so I'm looking into other...

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Now I feel stupid. 9v battery was of course a great idea to quickly test the fan! It works fine. Which must mean the problem is in my cat-5 cable. I'll swap that out with another one tomorrow, and I should be smokin'

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Thanks! That's what I was trying to say in my original post. :) I tried both fans with the same HM unit. One fan works as expected. The other fan does nothing, even with the HM showing 100% fan output. The HM works like a charm. Is there some way to test the actual fan or open it up and check...

new build - fan not working - any way to test it?

Hi everyone, I bought two assembled HeaterMeter 4.3s from the store. One whole setup is up and working perfectly. But I can't get the second fan to work. The HeaterMeter runs the 1st fan just fine, so I know Bryan sold me a good HeaterMeter. :) I just can't get the 2nd fan to run at all. Is...

help me pick new HeaterMeter - thermocouple vs thermistor?

Thank you so much for the advice and the offer. Glad to know we can use either type of probe, so TC version seems to be the way to go.

help me pick new HeaterMeter - thermocouple vs thermistor?

Hi everyone, I built my first HeaterMeter for my smoker many years ago. Now I'm helping my church group start smoking delicious meats, and I need to get 2 HeaterMeters for the new WSM's we're buying. We're on a tight budget, so money is a concern. It looks like the thermocouple probes are darn...

    changing wireless settings

Excellent! Problem solved. For some reason my HM wasn't getting a 192.168.1 IP address the other day. A restart of the router and then trying the linked instructions again did the trick. Thank you!

    changing wireless settings

Yes, but that I can't figure out what to do after plugging the HeaterMeter via network cable into my router. Is there an instruction page somewhere on how to access it via the LAN without wifi working? Let's pretend I'm dumb. :)

    changing wireless settings

Hey guys, I had to change my wireless encryption settings to WPA2 today, and now I can't figure out how to access the HeaterMeter to update it to connect using the new settings. I can't remember what the trick is to connect to this thing to configure it for the new network. Thanks for any...

    Got it set great!

Thanks! Those are the defaults, which I tinkered with way back when. I think I'm going to revert to those settings for my next smoke and see if it improves my stability. It's working well now, but still seeing some fluctuation.

Nice! What are your BPID numbers?

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

Pulled pork was a success! TL;DR - I needed to close the WSM vents better and remove the "B" PID variable. I followed Andy's advice above and dialed in the smoker much better. For someone's future benefit, here's what I did: Lit the smoker and assembled it (1 full ring of charcoal, 20 lit...

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

Thank you guys for all the help. I've got a solid plan on where to go from here. I don't have time for a dry run before my smoke on Friday night. But I should be able to start a couple hours early to work on my temp control before putting the meat on. And I'm doing pulled pork, so I'm not...

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

I can definitely seal the bottom vents and improve the fan connection. I might even look at a gasket for the two body connections and the door. I know a lot of air gets in via those gaps. Does your bullet smoker have a top vent? I'm assuming that one stays open, right?

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

Thank you for the help guys! I should check my Lid Open settings. I think it's set at 25% or something like that. It sounds like I have that setting all screwed up. And based on my first graph, the HM didn't detect any of the lid openings until the last one at about 16:30. What's the standard...

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

B 4 P 2 I 0.01 D 15 fan: pulse, min 0%, max 25% I'm wondering if maybe it's partially my blower connection method - I'm using a sink drain that just fits over the vent tabs. Maybe I should drill a hole and use pipe fittings for a better blower connection.

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

Yes - the big dips are when the lid is opened. But then the fan kicks into high gear and drives the temp WAY up high. On the first graph, I had all the bottom vents closed at the beginning except the HeaterMeter vent. It was opened about halfway. But it just couldn't get enough air into the...

help with temp fluctuations / PID tuning? - WSM 18.5"

Hey guys, I'm sorry for yet another tuning thread, but I could really use some ideas here. I smoked ribs on Saturday, and I fought my stupid WSM all day on the temp. I love the HeaterMeter, but it seems like about half the time I end up with fluctuations like this: My rib smoke before that...
