Temperature differential between grates on WSM

I understand that ambient temperature, size of smoker and a number of other factors will influence the absolute numbers, but I'm just trying to get a general idea of how much temperature differential typically exists between the top and bottom grates on a WSM? I don't have the capability to set...

    Stoker Setup Video FAQ

OK thanks Rob. I'll go back and reassign the pit probes so I don't cause the Stoker to "incinerate" my brisket, or at the very least "power cook" it. Appreciate your clarification, and the video's still awesome.

    Stoker Setup Video FAQ

Rob, I have not yet tried that test I posted on Saturday. However, I followed your Youtube video #2 instructions to the letter to include associating the meat probes with a blower. After doing that, I set the pit temp probe target to 250F and the meat temp probe target to 195F, put them both...

    Stoker Setup Video FAQ

First of all thanks Rob. Your easy to follow video entries allowed me to set up a two fan operation with ease. I took your advice and renamed and labelled alll my probes as I paired them with their respective blowers, and I can't wait to give this setup a tryout in the next few weeks. With...

just when i thought i had my mind made up on a stoker or digiQ2

Did it take two months to get the probe replaced? I think dealing with John must be hit or miss. I've only called john a few times since owning my Stoker and have always received quick answers, help and shipping. One time he returned a call during the Superbowl to answer a question that...

just when i thought i had my mind made up on a stoker or digiQ2

Hmm, he says he's got a wireless USB hub/stick setup working on his Mac with the Cyber QII software running via BootCamp. I signed into the forum and asked him to confirm that he has a working wireless USB setup and if so what's the make/model. The one I'm using on my PC is extremely...

just when i thought i had my mind made up on a stoker or digiQ2

I've got a Stoker that I use with Stokerlog and a Guru Cyber QII. I've found much to like in both devices, as well as a few really irritating detracors. Here's how I see the pluses/minuses of the devices and companies: Stoker Pluses True network control: I can plug my Airport Express into...

18" WSM Stainless Steel Door Replacement

I'm gonna do that mod on my '09 handle and try that door in comparison the one with the '08 handle. I like the idea of the "directional" handle, and if it holds tight then all the better.

18" WSM Stainless Steel Door Replacement

That makes sense. I have a door drilled for the new style handle, and I have more trouble getting it to seal tightly than the old style handle door. In my observation at least, it's the handle hardware and not the doors that is the issue. The original door is so light and thin it doesn't...

Nano or DigiQ II and newbie questions

Or you could go with a CyberQ II and have the ability to graph/track two outputs simultaneously. You do have to invest in a wireless USB hub (that's about $60) if you want to go wireless, but I'm OK with that. Not minimizing the value of Stokerlog as I use it myself on my Stoker, and I dearly...

18" WSM Stainless Steel Door Replacement

A successful business, large or small, needs both a great product or service AND superior pre- and after sales support. Good product and no support implies a lack of concern by the owner about customers' satisfaction and well being. When I get a calll within eight hours I know someone cares...

    Grease-eating dog food bowl

Better hope your WSM doesn't go all Gort on you and starts shooting laser beams out its top vent because invoked the fateful phrase. Hopefully you and I are not the only ones that got that.......

18" WSM Stainless Steel Door Replacement

Second that. When I got my 18" door and realized it was drilled for the old style handle, I sent an email to Chris asking if there was a "new" style door. He answered back within 8 hours to let me know that: 1. He was unaware of the change in door handles 2. He would go to Home Depot, get...

Stoker - are they in business ???

he was alive and well when I finally got through to him about two hours ago. Now may be a good time to try and call. As for the clamp replacement, I seem to remember someone saying they use a potato as a pit probe holder. Anyone that knows the details on this technique feel free to chime in.

    Why am I agonizing over this? 18 v 22.

Anybody here with a 22" run a temp control device (Guru or Stoker) and have any data to share on burn times for the 22" vs. 18"? I'm thinking of adding a 22" to the inventory and would like to hear what you've observed.

stoker fan blower will not shut off

Add me to the list of people having this fault. Stoker worked fine for three months, and then I plugged in a new blower and now it won't shut off. Tried going back to my old blower but that doesn't solve the problem. The blower just keeps on running. Since I don't have a backup I had to (gasp)...

Stokerlog does not recognize new blower/overshoot

Stokerlog does not recognize new blower/overshoot

I bought a new blower for my Stoker and when I fired everything up, I have two issues. First is that I'm getting the "overshoot" issue many of us experience when we use the Stoker the first time out. I suspect this is a function of using the new fan with the old controller. The second issue is...

18" WSM Stainless Steel Door Replacement

I ordered all the door hardware for an old style (pre '09) 18" door from Weber about three months ago and got it all within a week. The customer service rep looked at a schematic and picked the individual parts from it (handle, washer, nut and maybe one other piece). Might wanna try again...
