26" Red Patent Pending Red Aristocrat

I'd post a request in the trade section for a 26" grillmark replacement for the cooking grate. Doubt they are still produced, but there are folks who stockpiled them during a True Value closeout a few years back and might have a spare one. I use them in my flattop 26ers and they are a perfect...

    Performer 5# tank refill

The method isn't for the faint of heart as you are obviously dealing with an explosive, smelly product. Frankly, if you can get your's refilled professionally, I'd go that route regardless of having to pay for 20lbs as it is inherently dangerous. And yes, Weber included a quick connect adapter...

    Performer 5# tank refill

Here is a photo of mine, with a quick release adapter screwed on to one of the POL ends:

    I don’t need a 26” kettle

Buy the 26er. In addition to all the extra space, you also get a long-lasting stainless steel cooking grate.

    Performer 5# tank refill

I refill my 5lb tank via a 20 lb tank and a POL to POL connector, which is a copper line with to male POL fittings on each end. You can find them on ebay. If you have the quick release 5lb tank, you'll also need the quick release nipple to thread onto one of the ends.

    Check Out This Weber Collection

First time I've seen a light blue 18", or that shade of blue on any kettle, period. Darker than the glen blue. Looks like a 50's era triangle on it too, very cool. A chromoveil and a galley que as well. A few really unique items in that collection for sure.

    Hack-Job 26" Performer

I did something similar to this last year. I wanted to keep the charcoal bin, so I didn't add the gas assist lighting because there is not enough room with the bin in place. [/IMG]

    Performer Observation

That sounds a bit odd, especially since you said all vents were open, so the natural draft headed upward. As I see it, smoke would have to be underneath the coals to enter that tube. I guess it could happen if the air in the tube was warmer than the kettle air, but conditions would have to be...

Slow N Sear Plus or XL?

I use the original sized slow n sear in both my 22" and 26" kettle without a problem. While the 26" slow n sear is obviously larger and can hold more fuel, I don't see the need to have two of them. For long overnight cooks (basically anything longer than 6 hours), I still use fire bricks in my...

Do Some Weber Kettles Cook Better Than Others?

Two differences I have seen between old and new. My modern 26" kettle works better with a vortex for wings and such than my flat top 26ers (both a daisy wheel and a one touch), perhaps because the lid on the newer one give the kettle a more parabolic shape to reflect the heat downward at better...

Limited Edition Weber Original Kettle Premium 22" in RED!! Order by May 12!

I like the idea! The image appears to be a matte finish, but at least it is red. Perhaps there is hope for a special edition 26er in a color someday.

Thinking of buying a used weber gas grill.

Pat, you are my kind of guy!

    serial number

The lid vent has a serial number stamped on it for some newer kettles-my two year old 26er has one, for example. I think Weber also refers to the two letter date code on the vent as a serial number for warranty purposes.

    Cleaning Question

I'm in the George Curtis camp using awesome orange from the dollar store for light degreasing and smoke removal on my kettles. No need for a harsh abrasive on a vent in this condition.

[restoration] Curbside pick up - Genesis Gold 8128

When you get back, email Weber the photos and the serial number to get the process started. Helps if you register the grill on the site, too.

    New Roadside Find

Great find! FYI, the Genesis 5000 has glass doors. Because you have a side burner but no glass doors, it would be a 3000.

    Removing One Touch Cleaning System

It is definitely easier if you have the bowl upside down. If you haven't yet, just remove the bowl from the frame--if you have gas ignition, you'll also need to detach the hose and the ignitor wires. I've never seen one where the handle couldn't be spun once you put a screwdriver between the...

    Cleaning a Weber Performer SS

I think the OP was looking for ways to clean the SS portion... please do not use a razor blade on SS, the results will not be good.

    WEBER Silver B series restoration

I'm not clear exactly where the pinhole is located. If it is in the lid itself (the porcelain coated steel portion), Weber may cover it under your warranty as that part was guaranteed against rust through for 25 years. If it is in the cast aluminum side panel, you would likely need to find a...
