I plugged my HM in on Sunday to show a buddy and had to change the IP address within my router so I could access it. I know absolutely nothing about ip addresses and how that stuff works. I was so excited the other night when I got the port forwarding set up and those settings had to be changed...
If the alarms would work within the PitMeter app, I wouldn't even worry about it. If I read correctly, the newer hm software and the app do not work together in regards to the alarms.
I'm using a RD3 on a Primo round. My settings were:
P: 3
I: .003
D: 6
Fan on above: 35%
Fan Min: 0%
Fan Max: 60%
Fan Start Up Max: 100%
That seemed to run very smooth for me. I'm very new to this so if anyone sees something that I should tweak please chime in. I wish it were easier to attach...
Now I'm trying to set up my email / SMS notifications. I can't get it to work. I have set up my SMTP client (I think). I use a gmail account and used smtp.gmail.com. I checked the "Requires Auth" box and entered all my info there. Not sure why it's not working.
Man. Thank you! Just got everything set up exactly how you said. It's working like a charm. I feel like I just did some crazy tech stuff, and to most it was probably the easiest thing in the world to do. It took me forever to get into my router (password crap) and then, like a dummy, I...
To answer question # 2... I wasn't sure if it was an easy method. If setting up the router is the better/easier way, then I will definitely go that rout.
#3 Yes... Trying to figure out if that app will work once the router is configured. I don't know much about routers and IP's and such but...
Bringing this thread back to life... Rather than going through the router, can I just remotely connect to my computer through something like LogMeIn? It appears that they are charging for that service these days. I also saw a setting on my Mac that allows screen sharing in OS X. Just not sure...
If the max fan speed was set to 80% why is it showing 100% on the graph?
I might not even sleep tonight. I just want to go and fill my Primo up and toy around.
I can't wait to fire mine up first thing in the morning. Hopefully the rain in FL is gone by then. The graphs look good!! Did you have any of the heat deflectors in place?
If I'm only using the damper, then I'm going to set my top vent where I normally keep it for low and slow. And that is barely open. I might even set my "on above" to more like 80%. I don't think the fan is necessary except for higher temp cooks. But then again, I haven't even got a chance to try...
That was exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't sure what that setting was. Thank you! So do you leave your fan 0-100% and start up at 100% or do you still set a max to let's say 50% or something.
My buddy just got done putting my HeaterMeter w/ RD3 together for me yesterday. I thought I was computer savvy until I started getting into this thing. I guess I have a couple questions regarding this build:
1. Can the blower and servo be independently controlled? I noticed that if my HM...
