    Identify this grill??

I plan on having a 3/4" lip all around the top to contain any liquid grease. Grease removal will be with paper towels to absorb the grease or, if there is a great deal of grease, scooping it up. See this video for more information:

    Identify this grill??

There are! I've looked into a few, but I decided to go the custom stainless steel route for a few reasons. First, I haven't seen any inserts that are so large that they would cover most of the firebox area, therefore I would have to use two inserts. Two inserts means there would be a space in...

    Identify this grill??

Thanks for the feedback. I'm kinda 'in love' with the idea of turning this into a griddle (as I already have a 2013 Genesis grill), so I suppose I'll accept the risks. I did decide to leave 1" on either side of the griddle top to allow some heat to escape. Still, I will keep your comments about...

    Identify this grill??

Ok so I picked it up last night. Everything looks to be in really good shape. I'm going to start disassembly to get a better look at the frame and the major components. It came with two stainless steel grates that are in really good shape. Burners look decent, flavorizers look decent. Hopefully...

    Identify this grill??

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. It's still available in my area, and for $60. I think I'm going to pounce.

    Identify this grill??

Ok some Google-fu turned out it's an old Weber Summit 400 or 600 FT (for flat top). I guess the real question is - is this any good for grilling? I've always understood the hood to be a critical element for retaining heat. Why would anyone want this?

Never seen one before. Anyone else?

Genesis 1000 Restoration - What is this regulator?

Thanks. I actually have my own Genesis E330 with the cast iron grates - which I love. This refurb was a gift for my mother-in-law. She's retired and loves to grill, but her 4 year old Char Broil kicked the bucket this spring, and she didn't have the money to buy a new grill. I thought this would...

Genesis 1000 Restoration - What is this regulator?

This past weekend I finished the grill. Here are some photos: Here's a flavorizer bar after I hit it with some degreaser and a little scrubbing. After this I went over it with a hand-held grinder a buddy loaned me, with some sort of cloth-type attachment that got the rest of the crud off. You...

    New Genesis 330 Question

To do the gas leak test just mix soap and water in a spray bottle and spray at every juncture in the gas connection. Anywhere you see bubbles growing is a leak. Obviously some small bubbles are normal since it's soapy water.

    1998 Genesis 2000 rehab

Could you elaborate on this? I'm going to be fabricating a new handle that will look just like yours - no slots or anything. I note that my original handle is just a smidge narrower at the point where it connects to the lid itself. How did you go about shaving off that bit of wood?

Genesis 1000 Restoration - What is this regulator?

Looking at that link, I see a few differences between my grill and Alejandro DK's. First, my lid handle is one solid piece - no openings. Second, grill has no bottom grate or wood slats. I assume that is missing. Third, I don't have the flip-up side table, though it looks as if there is a small...

Genesis 1000 Restoration - What is this regulator?

Thanks for the replies. There isn't much else to photograph in that pile of stuff - thirteen flavorizer bars, the side table, and the bottom pan that slides under the firebox. I can't believe the side table literally just sits on the frame, not secured in any way. Is there some reason for...

Genesis 1000 Restoration - What is this regulator?

General Restoration overview Here's the grill itself, $30 off Craigslist. I'm restoring this as a gift to my mother-in-law, as her old grill just kicked the bucket. I've been wanting a project and a restoration looks like fun. So far I'm having a great time. I haven't been able to find the...
