The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

Fan seems to be Red = +5V Black = Ground Servo - Red (looks more orange but... = +5V Brown = Ground Yellow = PWM (used to be a clearly orange wire - goes to same side of the connector where orange did) Sound good ? Thanks! Karl

The Adapt-a-Damper - Open Source Project

For the spec sheet challenged, what colors to those correspond to on a 3-wire (red, blue, black) fan and a Tower Pro MG90S servo (yellow, orange, brown)?

Starting over. What do I want ?

I have the proper Tower metal gear servos. Had to buy several years ago and still have a couple somewhere. I was hoping the higher CFM blower would fit. I also have the original design one that turned out to be misaligned when I bought it with the HM. Hence a jamming servo causing low...

Starting over. What do I want ?

Was it something I said? No replies and it's been 6 days... I ordered a HM 4.3 and case from Bryan and it should be here in a day or two. Have a brand new RPi 3B+waiting for it. But how do I get a printed RD3 ? Emailed Ralph Trimble and no reply either. Does anyone else print them...

Starting over. What do I want ?

An old Forum member build me a SMD variant HeaterMeter 4.2.4 with a Pi B+ in 2016. I had frequent wifi and power supply issues (I often just reeled out a 100' Ethernet cable), and finally it died completely after the second year. He fixed it by replacing the processor and it's been working...

    Benefits of the WSM?

I bought an 18" WSM and have learned a bunch with it. Then I missed having a Weber kettle so bought a 22" Performer. Love them both but with 3 adult kids. 2 married, 5 grandchildren, I quickly bought a 26" kettle. Similarly, I wish I hadn't listened to the fuel savings advice and had bought...

Getting the smoker hot in the cold?

I do turkeys on my 26" Weber kettle now. Easier to get enough heat,, and far more space. A low and slow turkey isn't great for me - blubbery skin, takes forever. As far as the welding blanket, the first year (I'm in the Chicago suburbs) I had a terrible time keeping my 18" Weber Smoky...

    Which thermocouple

Thanks much. I don't want to spend huge money and have some extra plugs if needed. At that price I can have a spare on hand.

    Which thermocouple

My 2016 thermocouple has been fine till yesterday when it spontaneously began giving readings 50 to 100 degrees low. Realizing that there are no bargains, I thought I'd order a Thermoworks thermocouple, but it's $51 vs all the options for unknown Chinese stuff under $20. Advice? Thanks ! Karl

PitDroid: An Android app for your HeaterMeter

Galaxy S7, Android 7.0, July security patches. If I uncheck all alarms I can close it with the "Back" button on the phone and it's really closed. If anything's checked it just persists in the background till I restart the phone of close the application in Settings. I don't see a close button...

PitDroid: An Android app for your HeaterMeter

I had the beta and uninstalled it to get back to the original in order to be able to turn off PitDroid. Today Google pushed the new releases - same as beta, no way to shut off. Please restore this functionality.

    HM dying

Jascha has it and found a bad processor and questionable SD card. He has it running well now. And I upgraded my wifi just yesterday to a mesh system that gets signal to every corner of my property, so I'm looking forward to some much easier smoking when I get the HM back.

    HM dying

Well, it DID boot and work when I first reflashed it. Then I put it back into the case - which I've done a dozen or more times and it was hosed. Forst tiime I opened it again and checked I'd indeed popped the SD card loose - I pushed it in again and tried but nothing. Nothing obvious broke...

    Inexpensive temp controller

I just bought one because my HeaterMeter controller died and I'm not an electronics tech so I had to send it to someone who is. I found it listed on Amazon and had a hard tiime finding it here - I tried Tip Top Temp just like Maverick spells it and kept striking out. One of the reviewers on...
