Thanks everyone for the help. I think I messed up the board beyond repair desoldering the chip. Might have to scrap this one and work on the other 2 boards that came in the order.

still getting the AVR fuses ERROR.

GRD to Vcc on the 74HC595 chip is 3.1v ground to pin above M = 3.99v ground to pin below last e = 3.99v bottom right pin = 1.2v I'm not sure what happened but I can connect to it. https://flic.kr/p/obY7S9

https://flic.kr/p/obtCxs Here's the front and back. I did mess up the initial install of 74HC595 8-Bit Shift Register and installed another one. The soldering iron got a little close to the Rpi connection and its a little melted but I fixed that.

Thanks Byron. I found my address but it still won't connect and it doesn't display the "no pit probe" which makes be think I have a bad connection.

I've tried a couple things. I have 3 different SD cards I've been trying with the install image from the wiki link. According to the "console hang" wiki I can press enter and get the cocktail. ifconfig says the ip address as 192.168.200.1 but I have an Apple Airport which assigns ip addresses...
