When I do decide to go old school and use charcoal I bust out the Jumbo Joe. I prefer Royal Oak Hardwood charcoal over the kingsford stuff. Just make sure you DO NOT use match lite. that stuff is gross.
I wanted something a bit more sturdy to put my Jumbo Joe on. I went with a Harbor Freight Welding table for about the same price $65 with coupon. Works great and the Jumbo Joe fits with room to spare. I can even set the lid next to the Joe if needed.
I bought the Cajun bandit door for my 18.5 WSM. Mostly for the cosmetic appearence. There are some minor gaps that I was able to get slightly sorted out by bending the door. There is a small leak at the top of my door, but it doesn't bother me too much. The fit was definitely not 100%. I'm...
Will this fit the 18.5" kettles or only the 22? I have a Jumbo Joe that I am interested in getting a Kettle pizza for. It seems that the best I can get for my 18" is the deluxe model. I was very interested in the serious eats version.
2 butts should be finished up later tonight. That will get pulled with 6 racks of ribs for tomorrows BBQ.
Happy Smoke Day everyone!

Maple and oak are all over, maybe even in your back yard. The other option is to look for local pick your own type farms. I have had good luck getting apple wood from a pick your own farm. (Lee's Turkey Farm in East Windsor). $8 for a huge bushell that will last me for several years. Best...
I think it has been settled. I have purchased the 18.5 and I think it will be large enough for my needs. I just finished 3 baby back ribs and they fit just fine. There were even leftovers (amazingly enough). Thanks to everyone for their help and input. I love my new BBQ machine!!
Thanks for all the input. It seems that I will be better served by the 18.5. I was just trying to see if there was a performance increase by going with the larger unit. I will continue to lurk on here and I'm sure ask a bunch more questions. I look forward to the BBQ journey.
I have been lurking on here for a little while and have decided to get into the BBQ world with a
Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker. I have read a ton of stuff and am still having a tough choice between the 18 and 22. I have a fairly small family and will not be competing or cooking huge amounts of...
