Thanks for all of the positive comments, much appreciated!
No immediate plans for any further mods to this frame. This grill is parked right next to my Performer, so I have somewhere to set things down.
All bowl tabs have been welded to the legs.
Attaching the legs to a wood template. This piece of wood made welding everything together much easier than without it.
Robert, welding bottom cross bars to the legs.
The Mini Ranch frame is pretty much finished.
Test fit frame to kettle...
I want to share the construction of a custom “Mini Ranch” frame for my Weber 26” kettle. My good friend Robert (Robert-r on the forums), made this possible, thanks Robert!
About two years ago, I scored a pretty nice 26” and really enjoy cooking/smoking on this thing. From the first time I saw...
If anyone is interested in a trade, lemme know. I'm not getting my hopes up, but figured I would put up the offer, just in case. ;D
I just finished cleaning this up and it is in really good condition. I still need to get the lid bale rollers and the cover for the gas assist. A WSM 18.5, in...
I have only done low temp cooks (225-275) in this cooker, and always start the same way ( I don't always count the coals haha! ). I do vary the wood, depending on what I'm cooking though. I put the burning coals very tight to the center, so they burn slowly outward. So far, I have no reason to...
Here is the link to my set-up.

All of my cooks on this thing are with very little, to no wind. Realistically, it takes about 45 minutes or so, to get the temp stablized, after putting the meat on. Top vent wide open and bottom vent...
Are you sure your thermometer is accurate? I haven't used the comp briquettes, but have heard they burn at a higher temp, compared to regular Kingsford. I did a cook on my Mini yesterday and didn't have any issues getting a consistent 225 for over 5 hours, using regular Kingsford. No water...
I have one exactly like that, including the twist on ash catcher. It has "A" stamped on the top vent, so 1979. I can't remember the year they did away with the metal bowl handles. The one in your pic is still really black and not really that faded. Awesome!
Edit: Just checked and it looks like...
Hey Matt,
I got the cake pan at Smart & Final.
I use the lid therm to get a rough idea of overall temp inside the Mini. Using time on the smoker and a meat thermometer, I have had great resuls so far.
A 20lb bag of Kingsford fits perfectly in My Performers charcoal bin. Super easy to just pull bag out, pour in what I need and put back in bin. I think those charcoal caddy's are about the same size. I like to think that keeping the coal in the bag, helps keep moisture to a minimum.
Do you guys remove the bark before using in the smoker? Most all of the store bought stuff doesn't seem to have much, if any bark. I have a large branch, that came off of our Apricot tree, and intend to use it as smoke wood.
