    sous vide thread

Wow, I leave for 6 months, and this thread goes back active. I think I mentioned it, but you should set your min fan speed to 99 or 100 %, which forces the heatermeter into "SRTP" mode as we called it a while back, which basically removes PWM control of the fan voltage, and gives it 100% power...

HeaterMeter v4.0 for RaspberyPi / Standalone

For those going to a bigger fan... just my 2c. I use a 15.3 CFM fan characterized here: http://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?34981-Fan-Cooker-thread&p=351583&viewfull=1#post351583 Beware though: On my "average sized" indirect smoker, running the fan fast with that much CFM made for a hot fire...

    Upgrading HeaterMeter & LinkMeter

^^ Agreed. Also, make sure if you are pasting the info in that it is not breaking the update line into 2 lines.

    Upgrading HeaterMeter & LinkMeter

Looks like it had trouble finding the file at the URL. It seem to be there... http://capnbry.net/linkmeter/snapshots/trunk/linkmeter-brcm47xx-squashfs.trx looks like you got the command right, but for some reason your system could not find it. Maybe DNS? Try: sysupgrade...

    temp probe extension

You can just add compensation for the leads... plus if you are just adding 6ft I imagine the lead resistance will not go up very much. It will be easy to measure what you add.

The SSD did get hot, but was fine with the fan on it. Also, I could have easily bypassed the SSD and got the water up near temp, then hooked it back in line. I'm interested to see how the auto tune works out. I can try it on my setup sometime soon. I'm hoping to get my fan tubing welded to...

    sous vide thread

My first sous-vide cook (and last like this).... So, my kiddo got sick, which gave me some weekday time to stare at a computer screen for hours. I set up my HeatermeterPi prototype setup with my SSR detailed on page 2. I ran the extra probe I have as a heatsink monitor, since I was...

    sous vide thread

Good news! As of CapnBry-HeaterMeter-cb1762d (maybe a bit earlier), the AVR code supports 10 levels of "proportional" control for SSR (Solid State Relay) based heaters. Set your minimum and maximum fan speed to 100% in the web interface when using a relay instead of a fan. This will force it...

RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky discussion

Bryan, I compiled the hex file from CapnBry-HeaterMeter-cb1762d... all seems well now with SRTP and Min fan speed. Too late tonight to rig up the heater, but if I set 100% as min fan speed, I can control with a precision of 10% Well done!! This should make for really nice control over heating...

RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky discussion

Bryan, I got the newest 'official' image installed. Two issues.. it seems it will not boot with wifi inserted still. I can't really get more info right now on error messages, etc, but I will as soon as I can. Also, flashing the newest firmware for the HM via the web interface: Generic...

Blue Sky Stepper Damper thread - Breakout from RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky

Looks nice, and easy to build. I imagine the cost difference of the servo would be absorbed by the fact that you can use non-blower style fans easily. My fan was like $18, but I had a whole box of 12v 'computer' style fans. I'd build one of these, but I think my smoker is way too 'leaky' to...

RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky discussion

Oh, and if you swap the RCA over from the rPI, make sure you remember that you did that and don't hook the 12v fan output in through the RCA to your monitor. Oops :P. Luckily mine was in manual mode at 0% PWM. Not sure if the composite is 12v tolerant, but I'd guess not. The monitor...

RaspberryPi + LinkMeter blue sky discussion

I think that sounds like a great idea... do you plan to POT in the LCD entirely? Could be pretty sweet. I'd make sure you have a way to remove/flash the SD Card though. I imagine if you hard wired in a USB card reader and had the USB pins output through the waterproof connector, you could...

    Development Update: 1Hz updates

Excellent! I'll try it out asap. Been busy recently and have not had much time to test. Well done.
