hey,
Pulled the heatermeter out of the cupboard after a good 12 months, new modem/wifi settings and so I plugged it in via ethernet cable and followed the guide here
Anyways I can connect via wifi but I get no temp readings.
I have disconnected the ethernet cable
The HM is positioned about...
Had to power cycle the access point it was connected to. Something had gone pear shaped, but all working good now.
Even had some time to make a ghetto blower attachment and did a test run. Will post results later and a few pics of the setup.

So, I have the right jack and a more than sufficient power supply 12V 4.1A (50W max)
Just bench testing, I connect the power supply (rPi power supply not connected), and the HM comes to life, does the usual startup. Plug the fan in and set fan to manual and I can then manually ramp the fan...
So I wired up the following, then used my multi meter to see if I was getting any voltage output readings on the red and green wires. I get nothing, even though its displaying 100% fan.
So I read/search the forums, does the fan/blower only work with an external 12V >1A power supply (center...
Still only new to the HM scene, but I got the app up and running.
Now to play around with firewall settings so I can see cooks when not physically connected to home wifi.
Thanks

Hey Steve,
I went the ethernet route and got it all setup, took a lil fiddling in the wifi settings - turned off the HM and and disconnected the ethernet, turned back on and it picked up the correct wifi IP address, logged back in and configured the TC and probes and looks to reading correctly...

HM v4.2.4 with TC and a rPi model B
I have the following TC and Probes
K type thermocouple 4"probe with Clip, Smoker, Oven
PRO-SERIES® HIGH TEMP COOKING PROBE
So I think I successfully soldered it...
Hey all,
Was wondering if any forum member would help me out with combining the postage of the following items to Australia for me. Ordering them individually and with direct from store shipping is too expensive approx $100.
PRO-SERIES® HIGH TEMP COOKING PROBE x 2
K type thermocouple 4"probe...
Thanks for the reply ralph, that cleared things up alot.
Being in Australia, I think its easiest to just source the kit complete from tindie (unfortunately thermo couple kits out of stock 12/17/14). Have contacted the seller to ask when they will be ready to ship again.
I have managed to...
Thanks for the welcome folks.
So I think I will order a kit complete from mouser or digikey, and source a RPi B locally.
Also, I am having trouble understanding what the USB port and wifi adapter does on the HM board. Can some one simplify its function for me.
cheers
