Unless you already have some I wouldn't bother. Is SS steel wool better than regular steel wool for lid restoration?
Good to know. Thank you, Larry.Only time SS Wool would be better is if you're cleaning stainless steel.
10-4!What they said!
I think either would be fine, except that the finer #0000 and #000 grades of steel wool usually don't come in stainless steel. Anything more coarse than that and you risk scratching the porcelain. Is SS steel wool better than regular steel wool for lid restoration?
I appreciate the tip, Bruce. I ordered 0000 regular steel wool.I think either would be fine, except that the finer #0000 and #000 grades of steel wool usually don't come in stainless steel. Anything more coarse than that and you risk scratching the porcelain.

How many times do you reuse the same liquid? And follow up question, could it be a good idea to strain it out and reuse it again?I soaked some SS grates in the Zep restaurant grade citrus cleaner for a few days. Most all of the gunk rinsed off with a hose.
I did make an attempt at straining the liquid, but it was so black it was pretty off-putting.How many times do you reuse the same liquid? And follow up question, could it be a good idea to strain it out and reuse it again?

Excellent work Steve as always!!I soaked this well used, but still good Weber stamped stainless steel grate set in my sink last night using hot water, dawn, and a product called krud kutter. I scrubbed them clean with a green 3M scrubby then ran them through the dishwasher. Today I used a wire wheel in my drill to knock off the really stubborn stuff. They look good enough to keep and use or throw on flip grill. They are too worn to use on a nice restoration.View attachment 125443View attachment 125444
Thanks, for the amount of time I spent on these I was hoping for a better result. They just have a little more pitting on them then I thought when they were dirty. It's also getting tiresome using a regular drill to do this, I still haven't pulled the trigger on an impact driver yet. They still look pretty good though.Excellent work Steve as always!!
That's not bad at all for nickel chrome plated. This I just wire wheeled clean again. It's definitely a few years old with the chrome plating starting to pit. It's probably still good for a couple more years. I'm trying to get my garage cleaned and organized again with the nice weather the past few days. This includes deciding on which grill parts are worth keeping and what needs to go.
