Will this side burner fit my Genesis ?

Hey everyone I’m looking to pick up this grill this week off Craigslist so I can add a side burner to mine. Wanted to see if this would be compatible with my 97 genesis 2000 LX. The pictures are tough to make out but figured you guys can probably tell what kind it is.

The last picture is my grill. Also I have no need for the rest of the grill besides the side burner if someone in the northern NJ area would like to pick it up.

Hi Ant,

The dimensions will fit in the frame and the side burner has its own ignition so you should be ok there.

The gas fitting may be different so you might have some work to do to get it plumbed.

Hopefully your manifold on the 2000 has a plug and is already tapped.

The side burner WILL fit if you have the tapped plug in your manifold you're all set. Buy the proper fitting to go in there or steal it from the donor grill. Get yourself a little tube of pipe dope for gas
either through Amazon or wherever you get plumbing stuff. And you're good to go. This one in link is a good one. There are others I've bought from stores like my local Menards that have worked just fine for me as well

Pretty sure you can buy that exact pipe sealant at any Menards, Home Depot or other hardware store. Very common stuff.
Float us some photos when you get it done.

Yeah, I noted that. Usually I only post the Amazon links because about everyone knows who/what Amazon is but I've gotten quizzical questions wondering about what a Menard's is. So I don't usually use Menard's links

I assume since the manifolds and valves are different between NG and LP, that would be true for the side burner assemblies as well? Hard to tell if the donor grill is LP or NG.

Pretty sure I do have the plug in in the manifold, I’ll double check when I get home but it should be the little square fitting in an extra hole in the manifold right?

Oddly I have not come across this issue with side burners. They don't have the "steps" like the main burner's valves do

Yah, normally the plugs are square headed. The threads are 1/8" npt.

I don’t see much of a difference on a side burner setup for Natural Gas running grill regulated propane with no modifications. I have 2 in operation. Both have continuous valves not step valves.

The Weber side burners are relatively low output and run in the open. If anything they are underpowered and have to deal with wind and outdoor temperatures

The side burner P/N on a Gold C I have here at work is 7811... I have an LP side burner at home I will look at and check to see if it's the same P/N

Took a picture of the manifold. Hopefully I have the right one.

Manifold looks good. It should be as easy as reomving the square plug and moving the female quick connect fitting from one manifold to the other using an appropriate gas rated pipe dope and wrench.
