Weber Recalls Over 3.2 Million Metal Wire Bristle Grill Brushes

Any recommendation for these indoor porcelain wide bar grates?

What kind of grill is that?

If those grates are porcelain coated, I would avoid metal brushes and start with a strong degreaser. Weber makes some grate sprays, but Sam's Members Mark Grill Cleaner gives you a lot more for your money. Use with care! If using just a scrub brush and that doesn't get you where you want, you might also experiment with CAREFULLY using a razor scraper - not digging it in, but going with the flat of the grate - and see if you can "peel off" any remaining layers of gunk.

This is an indoor dcs grill

I cannot tell you how angry I am get a text from Weber saying the photo submitted does not show the overall grill brush even though I used that stupid app to take the picture. This seems to be another scam where they don't want to replace it and using any excuse not to. I had 2 of them appears only 1 claim so far has been asking for another picture. I am not wasting any more time with this and the replacement is likely a piece of junk since the grill must be cold so how effective would it be anyway.

I got the same response Brian. I am giving up. I really don't even care about getting a nylon replacement. In the grand scheme of things, it isn't worth the effort.....even though I think you are right that the whole process is designed to make it a PIA to make a claim so that people just give up.

I got the same response too. Whoa. I thought I was being overly annoyed so I didn’t say anything . But then I read these posts.

you have to use a special app to take a pic and upload with location services on. I took a close up with 3/4 of the brush in it because they said make sure the logo is visible. So I zoomed in on the Weber grill icon on the head. It says don’t throw away the brush until approved. I get an email saying photo accepted. I take this as an approval and throw brush out.

Athen I get an email saying they need a picture showing the whole brush. I call them and say I threw it out and why would they need that when they had 3/4 of it and how could the 1/4 more help them verify? The liability of not replacing would be more had I not thrown away.

all over a 15 dollar brush. Not worth anymore time.

I don't particularly care about the replacement brush myself. I'm sure it's going to be useless for it's intended purpose. I do find it odd that they are rejecting claims when they can clearly see it's one of their brushes. I haven't seen a rejection yet. Here is the picture I sent and their response so far which I received as a text message.

My brush was unused and still had the weber label attached to it. They rejected mine saying it was the wrong model.

Will a picture of a picture from my location work? Asking for a friend.
Again not worth the effort for a replacement solution I don’t think will work that well , hence why I asked for recommendations for other brands above.

You could try it, but I wouldn't put my search for a replacement on hold.

If they were replacing it with a good , effective brush I would consider. But this is so petty and stupid. I was going to not even think about it again but then I saw these posts. At least it’s not personal. Ha ha

Now I just want to mess with them. For example , Saying because they refused to replace I ate a metal bristle and and it’s stuck on the edge of my butt now and need help as I scream in agony , and record the call and post it. Not going to do that either. But sounds satisfying.

It might if you want to give it a try.

I think it’s more satisfying to hope Weber sees this and realizes how ridiculous they are being on this by reading this. If im going to do fraud it has to be worth it. I think 7 figures is my floor for fraud

Wrong model? They clearly showed those as being part of the recall.
Again its a scam the 21 inch that Bruce showed and I have that model clearly had the Weber logo when you went it to the site it was pictured. I also had the short one which is very hard to see the logo since its on the black handle.

By the way where is our Weber guy who is on this forum how bout he shows up to explain this fiasco to all of us.

The problem is there are 3.2 million brushes recalled say they cost them 9 bucks a pop to replace them which my guess is what they cost them maybe less. Its a big number.

Even more reason to make it easy to get those replaced. One lawsuit could be in the millions.

What they should have done is come out with a better brush than the nylon one. A $40 one that had chain mail or something. It probably cost 10 to make. Then offer a upgrade option for $10 that required very little verification and drive a new line of brush.

Ironically, they are still offering on the Weber Website the metal bristle brushes. Free shipping at $99 and free returns!

that reminds me. I just sent my pic in today. I was at home depot and saw the new red nylon brushes, big warning saying to use on cool grates only lol. rather get a rebate check over the brush
