Yah, I bought a few sets then. Probably should have loaded up at that price. It is getting tough to buy 7mm grates for $40 any more.We paid $39.59 for these in December. They do seem very nice, I put them on my rebuilt Genesis Gold.
Yeah, I guess because of material shortages? Could be mistaken.I think Dave gets as much business as he wants. While deals like this probably cut into his demand to an extent, I still don't think he is hurting for business. I know he stopped making grates a couple years ago anyway due to cost of the round stock....didn't he???
The only thing comparable to what Dave makes are the Weber 9930 grates which are about $200 a piece these days before shipping.I agree Cody. I bought mine about 8 years ago and they were only like $120 shipped.
I have some of those. They’re incredible. Side by side for $40 - hell even at $80, these 9mm grates from China are pretty nice. How the welds or fusing holds up is the wild card. The only thing comparable to what Dave makes are the Weber 9930 grates which are about $200 a piece these days before shipping.
I've got his grates (though they're custom) on the Wolf. IIRC I even showed them to you when you were here last fall. I've not looked that close and I also doubt I could even tell. But honestly they seem solid enough to safely drive a tank over with likely having damage to the tankI have some of those. They’re incredible. Does anyone have a set of Dave’s grates? I’m curious of the construction of them. If his crossbars are grooved for the bars to set in and then welded on each side/end? Because that’s a healthy amount of labor if that’s how he does them.
IIRC it's called resistance welding.I have daves grates. They don't really show welds. I don't think he is doing standard mig or tig welding on them. I think it is a process where the current is passed through the joint and it causes the two bars to melt/fuse where they touch. I don't know the name for that process. But, they don't have the middle cross bar on them either, which I like a lot.
Likely it’s TIG fusion welding.IIRC it's called resistance welding.
I may have to go check on the herd today. My burner and bar stash is down and for that price, it would be silly not to have some more on handVotenli Flavo bars and burners on sale: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QN6SR9Y?tag=tvwb-20
