My guess... it's either an intravenous BBQ sauce drip for those critically inflicted with Weberitis or to hold a light.

I really like that this idea is getting built and put out there.
Doing this will raise the bar.
This is the nicest version I’ve seen so far.
It still hasn’t been perfected but this is going in the right direction.
I’d like to see a version about 6 inches lower with a few other mods from the factory.

I think it’s a clamp on pole for a light.
Being a 6 footer myself, I kind of like the extra height the bracket placement gives.
I like the IV sauce dispenser idea!

Here's a 26" performer I built a few years ago. Split a normal performer down the middle and used some metal straps to tie it together. Had my BIL woodworker fab up a table. Wish I'd kept it

I was surprised how easy it was-except drilling holes in that kettle was nerve wracking-and think it worked out great. If I could find a cheap 26 I'd love to build another. Performers are easy enough to find but somehow I came across that kettle NIB for $75Ok, so now this is the new best version of this that I have seen.

Not my best decision for sure, but I was loaded up on grills and probably thought at the time I would keep coming across cheap 26" kettles.
The 26 is really nice to cook on. I have a WSK now and it's the the best charcoal burner around, but the 26 is really a nice upgrade over a 22. Weber should build them on a performer like cart with table.
