Test Drive on the New WSM/JJ Cart with Some Burgers

Still kind of drained from the events of last week so we decided to go simple and make some easy burgers.
Also gave me a chance to try out my new WSM/Jumbo Joe cart I made out of the old frame from my Genesis 1000 that I upgraded to a 2000. If you want to see the build it's here

Simple 80/20 with dalmatian seasoning, grilled onions and some homemade baked fries using Weber’s Chicago steak for the seasoning.
The burgers were great and just enough with the onions, pickle, lettuce, tomato, mustard and the home fries were really good with the Chicago Steak seasoning.
The cart works great and next we’ll try out the WSM and see how that works out with it.

Burger looks simple and delicious (probably you applyed KISS method).
Just curious: under the heavy WSM there are no legs/wheels. Are not afraid of any overthrows ?

Burgers look really good. Simple is many times better. As for worrying about the WSM end tipping, the propane tank empty is about 17# and full it is about 35#'s so probably not a problem.

Good question Enrico. That was a big concern when I started the build. The weight of the tiles, side burner and gas bottle (which is nearly empty) is more than enough to off set the weight of the WSM. With nothing in the WSM and just the side burner and tiles it stays planted very well. With the empty tank attached I put 55 pounds of bricks on the grates and burner grate much more than would ever be in the WSM and it was fine, I rolled all around and it had no tendency to tip at all.
I set the WSM in as far as I could toward the middle and the back of the WSM is over the wheels which helps a lot.

That's a well thought out setup, Rich. Charcoal starting, grilling, and smoking all within arm's length. Burgers and potato wedges look mighty good.

Rich;
Nice going! Happy to see you have joined the "Vortexers";)...

Pat G. I am truly impressed with my Jumbo Joe, also. It is a FAR better grill than either the Smokey Joe Silver or Gold. It is big enough you can benefit from a two zone fire and the sear heat has to be experienced to be believed. I got mine in a end of season deal from Target. You might want to start lookin'...

Keep on smokin',
