Tank Scale for 1993 Genesis 1000

Hello!
I am starting my restoration journey on a black Genesis 1000 in pretty good condition. It was converted to natural gas so I'm converting it back to LP, but otherwise the only missing part is the tank scale. Does anyone have one from a parted out grill they'd be willing to part with? I know it's a long shot since. Thanks in advance!

Ahh good call out, yes I'm interested but I think I'm missing that panel too. This is what it looks like at the moment.

Yeah, you're going to need that too. I have that part too but maybe you should try to source another Genesis 1000-4000 grill locally to get these parts as it might be cheaper, shipping has gotten pretty expensive for bulky stuff like this. IMG_20260502_150856544_HDR.jpg

I've had good luck with pirateship.com for getting the best possible shipping rates, worth a shot.

That's a good idea but alas I see zero 1000-4000 generation grills near me on marketplace/craigslist for a while now.

This morning Weber support responded on the scale, it looks like they have it (!) pleasant surprise, but now waiting to hear back on the panel (doubtful), and prices.

I would be shocked if Weber still had any of those old pointer style scales or tank panels. What Weber has been offering as a tank scale replacement is the newer style #99243 scale that they used on the next generation of grills, and still offer some variations of today. It's not period correct, but it will work as long as you have the panel to attach it to. Screenshot_20260502-152417.png

Hi Daniel, so you still have the tank panel for the grill, just the scale is missing? I have a pretty nice tank scale that I was getting ready to disassemble and repaint to sell on eBay. Let me know if you're interested and I'm sure we can work something out.View attachment 127337View attachment 127338View attachment 127339View attachment 127340
I think Daniel decided to buy a newer style tank scale, but I was going to restore this one anyway. Here's the beginning of the process. I spray it down with a penetrant to loosen up the top wing nut and the nut that holds the pointer on. I scraped the old sticker off of it and used a brass wire toothbrush to loosen up any remaining rust. I'll be doing some sanding as well.IMG_20260504_174622680_HDR.jpg

Sanded with 100 grit, then 220 to try and get a nicer looking surface. You're still going to see the deep pitting from the rust but it will still look a whole lot better than before. Now I'll soak all the parts in mineral spirits for a day or two before I paint everything.IMG_20260504_183825257_HDR.jpgIMG_20260504_184459124.jpg

Let me know what the mineral spirts does to the paint on that scale. My guess is that it doesn't remove it.
