Sunday's smoke questions

I have a 6 lb brisket flat and a small boston butt 6lb I think that I am defrosting and planing on smoking on Sunday. People are coming over at 3:00 pm. The last time I did an 8lb brisket it took 8-9 hours with foil and in the oven until it reached 200 IT. I keep going back and forth in my mind as to when to start it.

Is 230* a little high to smoke both of those meats together? This is with water in the pan.

I don't think so, in fact I'd most likely go higher but not past 300. As long as you're checking IT's you should be ok.
 
If you start at 6AM, they'll be ready about 3PM, but they need to rest for at least an hour.
 
Ok great!!! Yes they should come over at 3:00 but by the time they get settled and then some appetizers.. It would be ok. Cool!! Thank you!!
