Spirit 210 too Hot?

I'm getting frustrated and confused. My 2015 Spirit E-210 propane was burning hotter on the right burner than the the left so I did the following;
1. Bypass reset...2 different ways=nothing
2. Cleaned burner tubes=nothing
3. Cleaned and lubed the left valve=nothing
4. Replaced regulator
5. Tried different full tank=nothing
Called Weber...took my serial# and said after all of the above, has to be the manifold/valves...$77 delivered. I ordered it.

Taking a closer look at the manifold, I decided to unseat the valves and inspect it.
Well, the one Weber CS person told me there was a sealed valve in the manifold....which is nonsense. I noticed one of the red valve seals was a bit torn on the one valve when I removed it from the manifold tube. I replaced the valves onto the manifold, tightened everything up and fired it up. Bingo! Looked like I was up and running as normal.
BUT.....im thinking something is not right in that both burners are burning too hot. The stainless Flavorizers are red hot...albeit at night in the dark. No doubt it gets to 500-600 in 10 minutes or so.

The problem side valve did have some whiteish gunk in/around the valve jets. I cleaned with brake parts cleaner and an ever-so-thin coat of brake grease. Reassembled the valve and that's where I am now. Oh... I see frost around the new regulator but it's hot and humid for October here outside of Philly.

Am I imagining things? Is it supposed to get that hot? Frost normal on the regulator....i never noticed before because I had the front cover/door always closed up in place. What's with this "sealed valve" in the manifold that I think is nonsense?

Any input appreciated.

So, now both sides seem to get too hot????
Have you tried a new thermometer? Preferably a remote thermometer? I have never noticed frost on the regulator before on any of my grills, but I don't usually monitor the regulator. The tanks themselves may get quite cold and frost up when you run the grill, but never the regulator.

I went back out and fired op the grill again in the dark and checked air mixture. On low, I have 1.5-2" blue flames with dancing orange tips. On medium... 2" on high, 2.5-3". I think it's OK.

Out of warranty on that already?

Yes. 2years on the manifold.

On high 500 to 600 is definitely NOT too hot. If that is on low then you have an issue perhaps. BTW for all you who think if there is an issue go adjust air shutters. WRONG! They don't magically go out of adjustment. If said grill was OK before and suddenly not ok believe me air shutters are NOT the answer

I can attest to the air shutter issue. In fact, I believe the default setting for Weber burner tubes is exactly where they should be set and remain. I played with this last night and the original setting is the best. I belive my problem now to have been one of two possibilities... or a combination of both: the valve in question was not sealed/seated tightly enough on the manifold and/or, the valve was gunked up inside. If the latter was the cause, I'm a bit curious as to why the one valve and not the other. At this point though, I'm not disassembling the other to find out. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

By way of follow up it's, now exactly where it should be temp. wise and not surging/blow torching as I noticed a bit before. Nor am I seeing frost on the regulator. It's at 500 in 10 minutes and @535 in 15 minutes. I'm ok with that.I'm down $25 because I don't think there was any problem with the regulator... I followed the advice of the Weber CS guy.... but i can return the $70 manifold when it arrives. All in all... $30 to get things squared away as new after 4years isn't too bad.

So you've owned your Spirit 210 4 years? Is it holding up well?

Yes. I actually own 2. A NG S-210 and a LP E-210. I rehabbed the circa 2013 S-210 in March. The base rusted out so I made a new one from 1/2" plywood and restored the rest. It's back on the deck of our beach house and has many good years left. The E210 is grilling like it was when new too. That's the one I had some temperature issues with but all fixed now. Now is a perfect time to try and get one of the "older"style Spirits. Big box stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot are clearing them out.
I've cooked from 1-15 people wit no problems with my 210s.

Good to know. There are several on here that put down the quality of the newer webers especially the Spirit models. I've got a buddy that has had one (Spirit 210) for about 3 years and his is holding up well too. Good to hear from someone else that has owned one (or 2) for that length of time.

The bottom of that enclosed cart does seem to be the Achilles heel. Nice that you were able to rehab yours.

I can't speak for the quality nor the longevity of the Spirit II line currently being sold. I like the looks of them and have heard good things about their cooking characteristics. They are definitely lighter in overall weight than the Spirits I own and the hood design is streamlined. Those may very well be positive attributes. Time will tell. If I saw a deal on a new, old stock Spirit at Home Depot or Lowes, I'd buy it and keep it in my garage.
