Question on Weber Gold Series II

Have one locally that I'm trying to convince myself not to get. However the urge and need is building up.

My question is that the hood is SS but the shelves are black porcelain. Shouldn't it be the same color? The handle looks correct from the type of grill it is. Secondly, isn't the box for this line a 13 flavor bar? Box in the picture shows it being 5.

Anyone have thoughts?

John, post up some pictures, but yah, the golds normally have SS lids, but they do have the black control panel and usually gray thermoset tables.

the handle is correct. But thought the box would be from the x000 lines.

John. I am not real familiar with those grills. They are pretty rare. Definitely a great find.
I dont recall seeing those side shelves in black. It seems to me they are normally stainless steel, but like I said, I don't have any personal experience with them. Can you tell if maybe they were painted?

You might want to post some of these pictures in the main gas forum. There are some guys with more experience with these grills than I have.

I would have expected the tables to be SS also or maybe the hood in black.
Which main gas forum are you referring to?

I was trying to peg that grill. The closest brochure we have is from 2001 that shows a Gold pretty similar except that it has a black hood and the condiment shelf goes the full width of the grill. While it is possible that grill has some added on parts, my guess is that it is from 2002-3 right before they dropped the thick Summit frame for these grills. We see so few of these that is hard to say. I can see how they would have added the stainless hood option but not bothered to create stainless tables. Just using black isn't really out of place.

Whatever, I would think this is a VERY nice restoration candidate and a special, not run of the mill, Weber. I hope you get it!

I rehabbed one of those grills for a buddy of mine but the one I did had the crimson hood and tables. He wanted a redhead though so I put a red hood on it as well as the modded light handle.

Yep, patience is the key. That one was really nice, but if it wasn't what you are looking for stick to it until you find one that is. Easier said than done when Weberitous kicks in!😃

I picked up one of these oddballs right before the COVID hit for $30. Mine has a forest green lid and table, plus a side burner (complete, even has the trivet inside!). It was dusty/dirty/as he had it on his new house site for a year and a half while he built their dream house. It was used to feed his crew on a daily basis. I went through my parts bin; between cleaning-up/replacing burners and flavor-savors, scrubbing and painting the firebox, then repainting the frame, it looks great. Ignitor was even salvageable! It has a full spice rack in the front and heats to 600. I don't believe the side burner has ever been used.

Only negative is it had taken a tumble from a wind storm and the plastic shelf trim inserts and handle broke! I was able to drill and bolt the shelf trim back on, and it looks decent. BUT I need a replacement handle. does anyone have one laying around by chance for sale? Thanks, Kyle
