A buddy just brought me a load of peach and plum from our sunshine coast (think he's fishing for some Que!) and was wondering if anyone has tried either. The bark on the peach is much heavier than other fruit woods and the wood seems a lot like me...dense. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Dave,

I have never smoked with Peach but I have lots of plum from a tree in my back yard. The bark on the plum is thin. Plum is a great mild fruit wood to smoke with. It's a bit milder than apple. Kinda like cherry, but it doesn't yield the dark mahogany color to the finished product that cherry smoke does. I usually use pur plum for chicken and fish, and mix it with a little bit of oak or hickory for beef and pork.

Hi Dave!

I use peach all the time...my neighbor has a peach tree and he gives me the trimmings. As long as it is a hardwood, with a few exceptions, it will work just fine.

Good Luck!
