Hey Guys,

After using the awesome forum for info I thought it would be a good idea to put up my first post. Due to the abrupt 5 day lock down in Melbourne Australia I managed to finish my latest project.
It's an 1988 GEN2. Overall condition was good when I got it. A lot of surface rust due to being near the beach. Works include:
- Firebox and lid end caps sandblasted
- Frame taken back to bare metal
- All parts sanded, primed and painted
- All timber sanded back to raw and stained
- All parts cleaned

Unfortunately one might be on the chopping block due to space restrictions and 2 other projects on the go
🤣

Absolutely stunning restoration(s) and a beautiful collection! It will be hard to part with any of those, but if they go to good homes and you restore more I would say that is still a win-win👍😎.

Extremely nice detailed restores.

I am glad the world is getting ready to flip upside down and you guys will be heading into the cold season and we will be heading into the warm season soon. I am getting anxious to get back out and play with grills.

Spring is the best time, people get new grills and their "old grill" that needs an igniter, bars and grates are basically free for the taking lol

Cheers for the feedback guys, it's definitely a rewarding hobby. Unfortunately these do take up a hell of a lot of room over the Kettles so I might have to let one go.

I do have 2 others on the go at the moment (both reds) ha ha

Beautiful work. Did you sandblast the cook box?

Yep, it is Oak. I never get tired of seeing pictures of that grill. Oak probably isn't the most practical choice, but it is beautiful, especially how Jon finished it.
