New 2026 Performer Smart Charcoal Grill video

TBH, I stopped using the gas assist due to the cost of canisters in the UK and the hassle of trying to get the thing to screw in! I always used a chimney with it anyway. Swapped to using the little wax bale things as a box of those is a lot cheaper than the gas. Still a great grill though and in my experience, I never had a damp problem with my charcoal in the bin especially since the Weber briquettes changed from the old white paper bags to the waterproof ones.

I got tired of the small bottles too.
This is my setup now.

I had a performer with gas assist and have the original WSCG with it now. Never use it. I find throwing a couple tumbleweeds under the chimney or grabbing the Grill Gun far more efficient. I couldn’t even tell you if my gas assist on the WSCG even works, I had to replace the regulator once already and that’s around when I quit using it. I honestly wish I had the newer Kamado instead without the goofy box and air leakage to deal with.

I have 2 performers. One with gas assist and one without.
Having gas assist is nice but not essential .
I prefer the gas assist and not having one would deter a potential purchase from me.

Somewhere in my shop I have an unused adapter that I got to refill those small propane cans off of a big one.
I really need to start using that tool rather than spending bank on them little cans.

I keep my gas assist performer outside in the elements and very near to the salt water.
I’ve never had to clean the flame tube of spider webs or had to deal with any rust issues.
I cook outside year ‘round so that’s probably why I don’t have issues.

Our place in California was always prone to have clogged gas tubes on our gassers so I was always cleaning that out.
I didn’t bbq as much before I retired.
I think not using your bbq gear often will bring on the rust and the clogged gas tubes.

looks like the ash sweep is only 2 blades on the new performers
not sure based on what documents I’ve seen. Guess I’ll have to wait.
Also, it comes with the old style charcoal holders which I like.
I wish that Weber would offer the SS grates without the removable center section. I like the thicker rods, but the insert tends to be a pain. Can’t use it with hole in the side of the performer because the insert falls out.

You can get SS zip ties to lock the insert in. I saw a couple people do that and ordered some, but haven’t done it because I still use the vortex occasionally without the insert in place. Also, SnS Grills sells stainless grates without the insert, but smaller rods.

Hi Josh, it has 3 blades. This seems to be an error on the schematic or an error with something loading properly. The new Performers use the same One-Touch Cleaning System as current models.
Thanks for the information and clarifications.

One last question? What is the length of the tables on these?

My plan is to get one.

I love that Weber is making using charcoal a bit easier and less intimidating for newcomers. Gas assist and the digital temperature setting features will bring in and keep a lot of people into the hobby. Also for even the experienced, the features make it a bit easier, especially those of us getting older.

When I had mine there was a way to lock the insert in by flipping the two hinged grates up.
That worked on my peformer.
I upgraded to a all SS grate so no need to remove the center anymore with the vortex.

The performer with the short table is on sale at Amazon.

I have ruled out the fan system as I would rarely use it.

Bigger side table or shorter? That is the question. Opinions?

I'd like to know more about the smart ring and how it works on older kettles that don't have the one touch system. Do you open the vents all the way? Keep them completely shut? It sounds like something I would use while working during the day similar to my Searwood.
