Just for the Smokey Joe

Love the 14.5 riser I got from Spitfire grilling on Etsy to use with both the smokey joe and wsm but when using with the joe you have to flip over and the temp gauge is upside down and you lose height with the grate placement. But I ordered one just for the joe and already love it and can't wait do a long cook with it.

Is this an alternative to the tamale pot smoker ? I understand it works on the 14 smoker but why ? Have I missed something ?

Extra height for hanging ribs, chicken etc.

So this is higher than the tamale pot ? The next highr for hanging stuff is a 15 gal steel oil drum.
