I've been grilling on a 1997 Weber Genesis 2000 for about 12 years after my fathered offered it to me. He maybe used it a dozen times over the 15 years he owned it and it was always under a cover so it was virtually brand new. I tend to cook things that don't take too much time on it such as burgers, brats, steaks, etc. on it.
Three years ago I brought my grandfather's 1978 22" kettle home from his lake property where it was also kept under a cover and maybe used a dozen times. He received it as a retirement gift. The kettle is what introduced me to longer cooks of ham, turkey and ribs. But it isn't always practical for a quick meal after work. But it gave me an itch and I started to look at pellet grills.
This past November I bought a Searwood. My local Ace Hardware had a nice special going on the week before Thanksgiving with $100 off, grill cover, Weber gloves, bag of Weber pellets, assembly, and delivery. I couldn't say no to that. Since then I've cooked on it 1-2 times a week and am absolutely loving it.
