I just purchased two PLATINUM 1 - 1200 bbq's but not sure where they fall in line weber family tree

the 2 BBQ's are basically the same,
PLATINUM is on the hood in the top right, no indication of Genesis
1 has a black lid and the cart is longer, the other has red lid and a shorter cart.
both have the durawood shelves and bottom tray, when did they have real wood slats??
Neither have a side burner.

Are these part of the genesis line or separate and any idea how old they are?

...wish i could post pictures

best i can do is give you a link

Not really sure what Platinum meant on some of these. IMO they were just Genesis grills with a special logo.

I do not remember seeing the "platinum" branding on a Weber gas grill product in the USA before. Wonder if it could be distinctive branding for Canada?

Kevin,
Does the longer one look like this?

Double check the shelves because they are more than likely painted wood.

I have seen the Platinum line on both frame series and there is nothing really that different about the first Platinum series besides the striped line. They are the same grill as the Genesis series and all parts are interchangeable. Enjoy your new grills!

That's it exactly! (except i do not have a side burner)

The selves are what Weber calls Durawood....plastic. When did they stop making the wood selves?

Any idea when were these BBQ's made?
