Grilled Scallops

I'm grilling scallops tomorrow night for my mother (93 and going strong) and my wife (age not specified, but somewhat younger). Is there a way to temp a scallop with my thermopen or do I need to rely strictly on sight and touch? Any advise would be appreciated. As always, thanks for your help.

Just go by touch. Cook one extra and cut open when you think it's ready. Of course, then you'll have to eat it.

Thanks guys. I've cooked them before with no problems. Just thought a temp reading would make things more exact. Six hours and counting.
