"Grill Extender" on WSM ???

I have made a cooking grate extender with bolts washers etc. and it's been working pretty good.

Question is what are the benifits if any to using the "Big Green Egg" (single tier), Grill extender on my WSM ?

Local dealer just started selling green eggs as well as accessary's.

Is it woth the $20 bucks ??

Any info appreciated.

Grill extender for $20?

Just mod your existing WSM:

You've got a second rack (total of 3 cooking racks). Eight empty beer can tall boys (they have to be empty but that shouldn't be an issue

).

Put 4 of the empty cans on the bottom cooking rack. Put the extra cooking rack on top of the 4 empties (not the side wall brackets).

Four more empties on that second rack. Put the third rack on top of those empties.

That final rack will be a bit above the level of the middle section but that's ok. The dome will still fit over the whole issue and come in contact with the sides.

Extra cooking space, but no extra cost.
