On my 2002 good c I can't seem to get the top nut off to disassemble the valve for cleaning/lubricating. Any tips, tricks or hints? Thanks!

Should be a able to get it off with a deep well socket.

I did, using an adjustable to hold it from underneath to keep the entire assembly from spinning. That nut up top isn't having it

Did you strip the nut on top?

Watch out for that nut. I got mine off but it took most of the threads with it. The nut was brass and the valve top was aluminum or maybe pot metal (zinc). The two made a pretty bad corrosion sandwich. Fortunately there was enough left of it to reassemble. Mine is a 2000.

Finally got it! Deep socket on my impact drill was the right combo. Knocked it loose after just a second or two of effort. Can't believe i didn't think of it sooner
