First Time Tri Tip

Holidays. All the kids come home. My oldest son arrives last night with a 'new' girl and wants me to grill. The local Wegmans was out of flank steaks and he arrives with Tri Tip. I've read and seen posts on this flank steak on steroids and got a bit excited to take on a new cut of meat.
No time to dry brine. Just got to get the food cooked for the family and the 'new' girl. Hit the tri tip with Olive Oil and Montreal Seasoning.

Put them on indirect side of the Ranch Kettle (one chimney starter) along with some fresh veggies. Then around 110, hit the sear.

Off the grill.

Cutting it up. What a great cut of meat. Huge flavor.

Merry Christmas.

Got a 17lb pork shoulder for Saturday's cook out/party for the Military Bowl

Jim, looks to me like you've done GOOD!
Looks absolutely AWESOME! Hope the "new" girl liked it too ;)

Merry Christmas to you & your family!!

Nailed that one, nice way to impress that "new girl"! A very Merry Christmas to you and your family!

That Tri tip looks perfect! So juicy.

She probably wouldn't be the "new" girl if she fired up the chimney for you and told you about the WSM she had at home. She'd just be "the one".
