So I have been watching more you tube then I should but watching Harry soo he said he likes jealous devil lump so I said why not. I liked it, but didn’t really see a difference from Kingston’s blue.

on the the ribs. 2 racks of baby backs I got from BJs. Used a pork rub I had for a while that is pretty basic. Used yellow mustard as a binder.

did the 2-2-1 method. Holy cow was I happy with the results. juicy, Smokey, and fall off the bone tender. I finished them off with a light slather of Stubbs sweet and sticky bbq sauce. Couldn’t be happier. Best smoke yet.

Interesting to me that you said you did not notice much difference between KBB and Jealous Devil, but then share that you were super happy with the results being juicy, smokey, and fall of the bone tender. I always keep KBB on hand, but I have been using Weber for special cooks and I absolutely believe the effects are not just heat or ash based, but flavor and consistency of the meat is different. You post makes me want to get a bag of Jealous Devil more now not less to try to.

After cooking exclusively with Kingsford briquettes for a few years I tried one of the premium brands (Wicked Good) and smoked a chicken. My wife and I both thought there was a noticeable different in flavor--for the good. Of course, I'm just a simple old crackpot but I always thought chicken was a good choice to judge the flavor difference. After a while I became used to lump taste. The less ash factor is a big deal when ash disposal is difficult.
