Dome lid on 22.5 sticks when hot.

I have had this smoker for a few weeks. I have cooked 4-5 overnighters and several short runs. I do not use any liquid or sand in water pan. As per several threads suggestion I let crud accumulate in door track and last night I went out at 4AM to check on two briskets, I couldnot open door. After several attempts I pulled the pin on hinge and was able to open door from the back side. This had to be repeated 3 hours later. There seems to be abuildup of grease that has hardened in the area where the door edge rests. I have never cleaned this area and not sure how to properly maintain it.

Any ideas
 
The lid on my 18 sticks also, I leave the lid open after the cook till it cools, then use small scraper to get some of the crud from the lid, seems to help.
