Curb Alert !!!

Wow, I'm amazed how mamy nice looking vintage Webers are in your area at one time!
In that way I'm lucky because no one else values them at all around here so if I don't pick them up most times they won't get picked up. I'm happy about that! It's great for me but there is also no market for me to sell restored vintage Webers either. Thats fine with me because I'm not doing flips anymore and if I do the newer Genesis ii grills is where the easy profit is in my area.

That's interesting. It's kind of sad though, it means a lot of potentially beautiful grills end up going to landfill.

Thanks Josh, it went OK but there were complications with pancreatitus. It was a really painful week in the Hospital but my daughter is a third year med student there and she gave me a lot of support. I'm doing much better now but still need my gall bladder removed sometime soon. Maybe I will message the person and see if I can check it out after the storm. Great idea!

Grills can wait, health and well-being are the main concern! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I have one just like it in similar condition in line for restoration. Looks decent but I don't need it also looks Just like the one Larry bought new in 1989 if I remember correctly?

That right I remember now.
It now resides with my oldest daughter and son in law. Though the frame is from a very early 1st gen after the original was unceremoniously crushed by a front end loader :( But, thanks to Gerry Schaeffer who had an early 1st gen frame, we salvaged it and I was able to install a newer firebox as well from the Genesis 2000 I had that I scrapped due to completely rotted frame I could not salvage

Makes me happy to know that the grill you bought new all those years ago is still grilling! All the parts may not be original but the fact that it was worth the effort to keep it going is meaningful to me.

Aside from the cook box panels rotting out, there isn't much to go wrong on them. They are basically all stainless steel. I suppose a few screws and fasteners are mild steel however.

This actually looks pretty nice hard to see but the bottom of the cabinet looks good. Has some rust around the screws on the top panel I know nothing about these grills.

I have one identical to this one that I'm holding for Jon and using for now. It works very well but like Bruce mentioned the cookbox design is flawed and rusts out. Jon has a fix though that applies to the first and this second generation Summit that would make them excellent.

Really nice one! I'd pay full price for that one. The plethora of accessories is a big bonus.
The age of that one confuses me by the usual tells. Maybe it’s my Super Bowl food coma…

The tank level indicator is on the outside of the frame, which usually depicts an older model, if I’m not mistaken? But has the newer style level decal.
But then it doesn’t have the wide white walls.
The lid end caps the handle sticks out thru the ends like the older models have? (maybe I have that reversed?).

It’s a beautiful grill, shame someone screwed that bottle opener to the frame 😢

Good observations. I don’t know but I like it. I think I could put that bottle opener to good use though. ;)

Heading out this morning to pick up a rough Silver A

My Silver A reached 550 degrees in 15 minutes in 8 degree weather last weekend. It needs a playmate.

With a folding table, too. Nice little find!
The table's broken at the point the rod goes through but that's easy to replace. The frame and cabinet were my priority and they are in good shape. I thought the pan rails on the firebox would be shot based on the pan sitting in the cabinet but they are fine. The pan is in the bottom because the prior owner removed it and apparently the missing flavorizers in order to use it as a charcoal grill. There was a pan full of ashes filling the firebox and the bottom of the cabinet had a half inch of grease/ash. This grill's plastic shows it spent 20 years outdoors but is the cabinet bottom is very solid, likely thanks to the grease!

It was about 75 feet from the road and the snow was deep. This was the first day over 32 in a couple weeks, so the slow drag had me sweating it out lol! I normally try to scrape out and bag much of the debris before I load 'em in the Town & Country. In this case I ended up with 10+ lbs of material.

I was expecting it to be good for backup parts for my everyday Silver A, but the cabinet integrity has me thinking of making this into a full time matching griddle. This poor thing is a victim of identity theft and deserves restoration to it's hot 'n fast Silver A birthright. A fun project down the road.
