any idea if it fits a 14.5?
Side note I found a few YouTube videos of people who had to notch either the WSM or hinge to get it to fit. I ordered it anyway but I’m gonna see if I can think of anyway that doesn’t involve doing either
Awesome I missed that (using my phone). All the you tubers showed them having too notch and I was wondering why no one spaced it outIs there a pin release to remove the lid if desired? I like the ability to do that for ease of cleaning.
I am thinking of buying 2 of these. One for my WSM18 and the other for my Performer as I do hate the lid bale. I do need to be able to remove the lid easily to use the rotisserie ring. Has anyone tried replacing the 2 bolts with a pin of some sort?Hey everyone just got a 18.5 wsm the other day and I want to put a hinge on it. Has anyone put on a Akron Hinge 14$ compared to unknown’s price of $50. Just looking for some advice for a new WSM owner. Thanks Dave.
Good question, that’s the thing holding me back from putting one on the ”Overperformer“ 22” kettle. I’m very happy with the “Unknown” on the 18, I think the simple pin release on that is maybe the right way for me to go, I want ease for removal when I need to rotisserie something!I am thinking of buying 2 of these. Thanks for posting this and for the link to the pin. Do you know if this hinge would work on a 22?I mounted the 1st hinge on my WSM18. Just for the record, I hate doing this. I fix things, I don't mod or improve them, as I find my measurements or something are usually off, like this. I think I put the hinge too low on the center piece and then had to get out the angle grinder to notch the hinge so it would work. I also used 2 washers on the 2 top bolts on bottom part of the hinge. I did find a pin that seems to work great making it easy to take the lid off. I will do my performer some time I am feeling brave now that I have a working way to take the lid off to use the rotisserie. Do make sure you align your hinge with a wheel for stability when putting the center on the base.
2 hinges with pins for less than $50 seems a lot more reasonable than some other options. This hinge is also a lower profile if you want to use a WSM cover.
